As reported by The Verge, Google is having yet another outage this week to add to the larger issues we all dealt with earlier in the week. This time around, Google is saying that the issues are contained to Gmail with users encountering “error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behaviors.” Unlike the previous outage, it seems this one is only affecting Gmail for now.
According to the same report, Google looks to have things back in place by 7PM EST, but as we’ve yet to hit that time, we can’t for sure say the outage is fully contained. According to Down Detector, it looks like the issue is on the way out, but we’ll need to wait just a bit to make sure.
Again, this is the second server-side issue Google has encountered this week, and it isn’t exactly clear whether or not the two are connected, but it stands to reason that they might be. Either way, the issue should be sorting itself out and hopefully users seeing Gmail issues will no longer see those in the coming hour. This comes at the end of the work day for the US, but in other areas around the world, we’re smack-dab in the middle of business. Hopefully the issue has been resolved by the time you are reading this.
