When Best Buy recently dropped the price of Samsung’s ultra-premium Galaxy Chromebook to $799, I was confident that it was just a matter of time before Samsung rolled out a deal of its own. I’m happy to say that my gut feeling was spot on. It only took a couple of days for Samsung to match the $799 promotion on the Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray 10th Gen Intel Core i5 convertible but thanks to this little trick, you can actually get it even cheaper.
How? You ask. Well, it’s all thanks to Rakuten. Throughout the holiday shopping season, the cashback giant is boosting rewards on hundreds of the company’s retail partners. Samsung, which is traditionally a 3% cashback site, is getting up to 10% cashback when you shop using the Rakuten Extension or mobile app. 10% may not sound like a huge deal when you’re buying a $30 pair of sneakers but we’re talking about one of the sleekest Chromebooks ever made that runs $999 retail. While we picked the Acer Chromebook Spin 713 as our Chromebook of the year, this deal puts the Galaxy relatively close to the same price bracket and it makes it a device that’s worth considering. For $720, you’ll get a 4K AMOLED, super-bright display, garaged stylus, 10th Gen Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of NVMe storage. Oh yeah, it also has a fingerprint sensor which I, for one, have become very fond of on a Chromebook. All of this comes wrapped in an eye-catching chassis that is one of the slimmest and most well-built Chromebooks on the market.
