Even though it’s been on the market for a little while now and is beginning to show its age in the constantly-evolving Chromebook ecosystem, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5 still holds its own and packs in features that still make me love picking it up and using it.
Front and center, the big, beautiful OLED screen is a standout along with the wildly-thin-yet-firm build quality, lightweight feel and attractive chassis. Throw in the keyboard and kickstand in the box with USI pen support and you quickly have a detachable Chromebook tablet that gets so much of the equation right even years later.
Right now, Best Buy has slashed the price of the Lenovo Chromebook Duet 5 by a whopping $200, bringing it down to an almost unbelievable $299. And when a deal this good pops up, it makes an already compelling Chromebook an absolute steal.
If you’ve followed our coverage of the Duet 5 over the years, you’ll know that the 13.3-inch OLED screen really remains its killer feature. It presents vibrant colors, perfect blacks, and a brightness that makes everything from movies to web pages simply pop. It was one of the best displays we’d ever seen on a Chromebook then, and honestly, it still holds up beautifully today. But it’s not just about the screen. The Duet 5 also delivers:
- Incredible battery life: Thanks to its ARM-based Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor, this Chromebook could easily go 12-15 hours on a charge, making it a true all-day (and then some) device.
- A great detachable experience: The included kickstand cover and surprisingly comfortable keyboard base make it a versatile 2-in-1, great for both content consumption as a tablet and light productivity as a laptop.
- Solid everyday performance: While not a speed demon, the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 inside provides enough horsepower for most everyday ChromeOS tasks, Browse, and streaming.
Sure, newer and faster Chromebooks have come along since the Duet 5 first launched. But at $299, many of the minor trade-offs you might make for an aging processor become incredibly easy to overlook when you’re getting that stunning OLED panel and epic battery life.
I’ve really loved the Duet 5 since it debuted and really felt that it offered fantastic value; and this $200 discount just amplifies that by a huge margin. If you’re in the market for an affordable Chromebook that punches way above its weight in the display department and can last all day, this is a deal you really shouldn’t miss.
