Just as we did with the upcoming Chromebook ‘Eve’, we are starting to see tons of details emerge for the first detachable Chromebook known only as ‘Soraka’.
We’ve covered a few things around ‘Soraka’ and the baseboards/keyboard that make it up. You can read here if you need to catch up.
What we are seeing today via this commit is the addition of a backlit keyboard being added. Granted, this is added to ‘Hammer’, but if you haven’t read the link above, that might not make sense. Just remember ‘Hammer’ is the keyboard for ‘Poppy’ and those correspond to ‘Soraka’ and ‘Staff’. Again, read that post linked above for further details.
With this being a detachable that, at this point, is assumed to be more of the Surface Pro/keyboard cover type, it is encouraging to see a backlight being part of the mix.
As more details emerge, I become more convinced that ‘Soraka’ will be a device quite similar to the Surface Pro’s of the world.
Are you excited for this form factor in a Chromebook? With convertibles everywhere and tablets on the way, does this style of a Chromebook look like something you’d buy?
