Cyberpunk 2077 for Stadia Delayed. Here’s when we can expect it

Since Cyberpunk 2077 was announced almost eight years ago, it’s unarguably been one of the most hotly anticipated games of the decade. The game is being developed by Projekt CD Red, the same team who created The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which has propelled the company to a higher value stock market valuation than Ubisoft and becoming the most valuable videogame company in Europe! Having announced support for Google Stadia recently, many of us have been stoked to see such a valuable AAA title coming to our favorite cloud streaming platform. Unfortunately, we received word today that the game would be delayed for Stadia.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.

Cyberpunk was supposed to drop on Stadia at the same time as PS4, PC and Xbox versions on September 27th, 2020, which was already delayed from its original April release date, but not anymore. In a press release given to StadiaSource directly from CD Projekt Red (CDPR), we now know that it could be released anywhere up to three months later. At least we know we’ll be getting it before the year ends at this point, so long as nothing else changes.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on 17 September 2020 for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. By the end of the year the game will also make its debut on Google Stadia. Further information can be found on the game’s official website and on its Facebook and Twitter profiles.

Being that Stadia support for the game was announced after the core consoles, it’s likely that the company has decided to focus their attention on those releases first. In the meantime, Stadia fans can enjoy The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor starting on the 16th of this month, so that should tide us over. Still, Cyberpunk is looking to be something quite special that nothing really compares to. I’m personally looking forward to NetEase’s Project T which looks to be a Cyberpunk clone and will hopefully release soon. We will give you some information on this title soon!

We’ve got to say, we’re pretty bummed about this, especially since Keanu Reeves is to make an appearance in the CDPR’s game. Were you looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia? Let us know in the comments below!
