Google has just announced a compelling offer for college students across the United States. Timed perfectly as many students head into exam season, Google is offering its Google One AI Premium plan completely free of charge for an extended period. This plan typically costs $20 per month, making this a significant value proposition – especially for those that get in right away.

Students who sign up using a valid .edu email address before the deal expires on June 30, 2025, will gain access to the premium tier and all its associated benefits until June 30, 2026. That covers not just the current academic year, but the next one as well, providing a long runway to integrate these tools into their studies.

This offer is more than just AI bells and whistles; it’s a package designed to assist with productivity, research, and creativity, anchored by a substantial storage boost. Here’s the complete list of everything that is included in this completely free offer from Google:

  • 2TB of Cloud Storage: This is a massive upgrade from the standard free tier, offering ample space for coursework, research materials, personal files, photos, and videos without constantly worrying about hitting storage limits.
  • Gemini Advanced: Access to Google’s most capable AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro. This unlocks advanced features like:
    • Deep Research: For exploring complex topics and generating easy-to-understand reports, which can even be converted into podcast-style audio summaries.
    • Gemini Live: A conversational AI experience for talking through ideas and concepts.
    • Canvas: A dedicated writing companion space.
    • Veo 2 Video Generation: Create short, detailed video clips directly from text descriptions within Gemini Advanced.
  • NotebookLM Plus: An AI-powered research and study tool. Upload course materials, syllabi, or research papers, and NotebookLM becomes an expert on that specific information. It can generate audio overviews, visual mind maps, study guides, and even help discover related sources. The Plus tier offers increased usage limits compared to the standard version.
  • Gemini in Google Workspace: Integrate AI assistance directly into Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Get help writing papers in Docs, analyzing data in Sheets, or generating presentations and images in Slides.
  • Whisk: An experimental tool from Google Labs allowing users to blend text and image prompts to create unique visuals, now with the ability to animate those creations.

How to claim this offer now

To take advantage of this, eligible students in the US simply need to head over to the Google One student website and sign up using their verified .edu email address before the June 30, 2025 deadline. Google has also confirmed that they will notify students via email before their free access period ends in 2026, giving them ample time to decide whether to continue with a paid subscription or cancel the service.

This move positions Google competitively alongside other AI providers like OpenAI and Anthropic, who have also recently announced initiatives targeting the education sector. For students, however, the immediate benefit is clear: free access to a powerful suite of AI tools and significant cloud storage for over a year.

This is a substantial offer from Google, putting advanced AI capabilities and plenty of storage directly into the hands of students at no cost for an extended period. If you’re a student in the US with a .edu email, snagging this freebie before the June 2025 deadline is something I’d do immediately – whether you plan on using it or not.
