We have confirmed that casting is now enabled and works from many of the Android apps you would normally use as casting apps. While Android Apps have been around on a few devices for a little while, Chromecast support was lacking up until now. There are great apps that aren’t quite as great without this, so we are super-excited to see it is now available!
Among these we have confirmed are:
- Netflix
- Google Play Movies
- Hulu
- YouTube (app not website)
- Disney Movies Anywhere
- Google Play Music
- Spotify
We heard about this around the web earlier in the week, but we have now confirmed and tested it for ourselves and wanted all our readers to be aware. There are obviously still going to be apps where this won’t work yet (we’re still technically in Alpha right now), but to see it working seamlessly already from a handful of apps is really encouraging.
And the best part is, where it works, it works very, very well.
