We reported on the Passoword Manager Bug way back in September, fully expecting that this very annoying and frustrating bug would be resolved quickly.
It was not. However, it looks like they have the solution now.
Yesterday, with the massive amount of devices receiving Android Apps in the Dev Channel of Chrome OS, I had the urge to check again (as I frequently do) to see if my passwords were available to view as I was in the Dev Channel on all my Chrome OS devices.
For me, I use the sync encryption and simply store all my passwords in Chrome. The convenience is being able to easily view them to share with coworkers or clients if need be.
This bug has all but removed that ability both in the settings menu and at passwords.google.com. My passwords have continued to store and auto-fill (thankfully), but my ability to actually view them has been gone for two and a half months.
As I’ve checked for this repeatedly over that time, I was fully expecting the same frozen screen I’ve seen for the past couple months.
Instead, my passwords loaded up immediately and the Password Manager was full of useful info just like it always was.
So, the bug is fixed in the Dev Channel and should make its way through the normal Beta and Stable Channels before too long.
Hooray!!
