Just another fine day in the world of Chrome OS. This week’s find is what appears to be the emergence of yet another Skylake-powered tablet device.
‘Soraka’ turned up in the Chromium repository earlier this week and while details are spare, we do know it is being copied from another upcoming device code named ‘Poppy’.
Without much to go on, we can only assume this will be another Detachable type Chrome device. Being that the initial files are being copied from ‘Poppy’, it is likely it will have a similar form-factor. If ‘Soraka’ were to be a traditional clamshell or convertible there are plenty of other Skylake-powered devices the developers could copy.
There is always the possibility we may be looking at the first Skylake-powered tablet. Copying the core files from ‘Poppy’ would give the devs a foundation to work from then keyboard support could be removed as they customize this new device.
‘Soraka’ joins the ever-growing list of next generation Chrome devices that will offer up never before seen options for Chrome OS users. Keep and eye out. We’ll be watching this one closely.
Fun fact: Poppy and Soraka are characters from the popular online arena battle game League of Legends.
