Google’s Pixelbook will soon grace the homes of many who are looking for the latest, greatest Chrome OS device on the market. For those looking for a powerful Chromebook sans the $1000+ price tag, Acer just released the latest iteration of the Chromebook 11 and this one offers an Intel Core i5 processor in a compact form-factor.

The Acer Chromebook 11 C771 turned up at Computex earlier this year and we have been eagerly awaiting the unique device’s availability. At around $500, the new Acer has a lot to offer for just about any user.

What makes this Chromebook different than most of the devices on the market isn’t a resume of cutting-edge features but a whole lot of power in a very small space. The 11.6″ rugged Chromebook houses a 6th Gen, Intel Skylake Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 64GB storage.

It’s still a bit unclear who Acer is targeting with the Acer Chromebook 11 but I can imagine it would make a great enterprise device for companies looking to deploy field units that can stand up to a beating. Built off of the same baseboard as the Acer 14 for Work, the Acer 11 should be a beast for even power users.

The C771 Chromebook offers military-grade impact resistance, tamper-proof keys and a spill-resistant keyboard that is capable of channeling up to 330ml of liquid away from internal components in a single spill.

Oh yeah, did I mention it has a touchscreen? Well, it does.

Here’s a rundown of what the new Acer Chromebook 11 has to offer.

With the small display and significantly fewer pixels to push, the Acer C771 should perform magnificently compared to devices with QHD screens. We’re very anxious to get our hands on this one and share our thoughts with you. If the Core i5 is a bit more than you’re looking for, the Acer 11 comes in a Celeron version with touch or traditional displays for around $300.

You can pick up the Acer 11 Core i5 from a number of resellers on Amazon at the link below. More buying options should be coming soon including Acer direct.
