I just came across this useful little nugget this morning. While I’ve heard that it is pretty simple to upgrade the SSD in the Acer C720 Chromebook, I’ve not looked into the process until now. And while I don’t currently own this device, the relative ease with which this is accomplished gives me a bit to consider when my White Acer C720P arrives in the next few days. As you will see in the video, the only exchangeable part is the SSD. Sorry folks, no RAM upgrades on this one. However, the ability to upgrade to a 128GB drive is quite enticing!
He shares in the video where he purchased the compatible drive, and here is that link. Looks like you have 3 options there: 32GB ($39.99), 64GB ($59.99) and 128GB ($99.99). I’m unsure of the ease of doing this on other models, but it could be a great mod for many people that want to store media or run Linux with a lot of applications.
Thanks to Chippy Paine for the video!
