Zoom comes to Nest Hub Max and offers unlimited 24-hour calls through March

December 15, 2020 By Michael Perrigo Leave a Comment

We first caught wind of Zoom coming to Nest Hub Max a few months ago and guess what – it’s finally here! In addition to being able to start group video calls with Meet or Duo, you can now use Zoom too. In order to do so, you’ll need to join the Preview Program by digging in the Google Home app under that device’s settings under the “Device Information” section.

If you live in the U.S., U.K., Canada, or Australia, Zoom is offering Unlimited calls (up to 24 hours for free and paid accounts) until March 31, 2021, in order to help you connect with your loved ones for the holidays. Previously, the company offered free calls during the Thanksgiving season. Each of these generosities seems easy for them given the year they’ve had thanks to the pandemic – they’ve quickly become one of the top go-to video conferencing software solutions for businesses and families alike and reported $777.2 million in revenue during their third-quarter! Free calls for everyone – because chump change, am I right?

If you have a Google or Nest Wi-Fi, you can also toggle on ‘preferred activities’ in order to prioritize your bandwidth for Zoom calls on your Nest Hub Max as Google added this feature only last month as a way to assist with the global increase in video conferencing.

In order to get started with Zoom on your Next Hub Max – assuming you’ve already joined the aforementioned Preview Program – just link your Zoom account to your Google account and say “Hey Google, start a Zoom call.” You can also generate a meeting ID from Zoom and add it to a Google Calendar event in order to schedule a call ahead of time. Once the time comes for that meeting, simply say “Hey Google, join my next meeting.” Do you use Zoom, Duo, Meet or something else for video calls? We’d be interested to know in the comments section!
