Last fall, Google surprised smart home enthusiasts by partnering directly with Walmart to bring affordable, Google Home-compatible security hardware under Walmart’s in-house Onn brand. That lineup originally kicked off with a dirt-cheap wired video doorbell and an indoor camera, but Google is officially taking that budget partnership outside.
According to a new post on the Google Home & Nest Community, the Google/Walmart partnership is officially expanding with two brand-new, weather-resistant outdoor security cameras – and one comes with a built-in floodlight, too!
Gemini-powered outdoor security on a budget
The two new entries into the lineup are designed to bring full property coverage without breaking the bank:
- Onn Outdoor Camera Plug-In ($34.87): A simple, weather-resistant plug-in camera designed for quick backyard or patio monitoring.
- Onn Outdoor Floodlight Camera Hardwired ($77.00): A hardwired floodlight fixture engineered to illuminate driveways and yards with high-powered spotlights.
Despite the ultra-accessible price points, both cameras deliver standard 1080p HDR live video feeds, night vision capabilities, and two-way audio directly inside the Google Home app out of the box.
Crucially, both devices come with Gemini built-in. When paired with a Google Home Premium subscription, users unlock Gemini for Home’s camera AI features. That includes natural-language AI activity descriptions (identifying specific events like “the wind blew the patio umbrella across the deck” instead of generic motion alerts), extended 60-day video history, daily Home Brief summaries, and conversational video search via Ask Home.
Price and availability
By keeping the hardware costs remarkably low, Google and Walmart are making it infinitely easier to build out a comprehensive smart home security setup that natively integrates into the Google Home ecosystem alongside existing Nest gear.
The complete updated onn smart home lineup—including the new outdoor plug-in camera, hardwired floodlight, original wired video doorbell ($44.87), and indoor wired camera ($22.96)—is available starting today online at Walmart.com and in Walmart retail stores nationwide.
