Sometimes, the best new features aren’t the big, flashy ones. Sometimes, it’s the small, simple, quality-of-life update you’ve been quietly waiting on for years. Today, Google Keep for Android is rolling out one of those features, and for me, it’s an absolute game-changer: you can now finally sort your notes in the Google Keep app on your Android device.
A feature I’ve been waiting for
For years, our options for organizing notes in Keep have been limited to pinning, coloring, and labeling. While those are all useful, it could still be a pain to find a note you recently worked on if you forgot to pin it to the top. It often meant a lot of time wasted with frustrating scrolling.
This new update solves that problem beautifully. In the primary browsing view of your notes, you can now sort your entire list by either date created or date modified via the new sort button up top.
For me, being able to sort by “date modified” is the killer addition. Now, the notes I’ve most recently interacted with are always right at the top, regardless of when I originally created them. No more endless scrolling to find that one list I was just editing. It’s a small change that makes the app infinitely more intuitive to use.
How to find it
According to the Google Workspace Updates blog, this new sorting feature is available now for all users, including those with personal Google accounts. You should see the new sorting option appear at the top of your main notes list in the Google Keep app on your Android phone.
It’s not a flashy AI trick or a massive redesign, but this is one of my favorite updates in a long time. It’s a fundamental improvement that makes a great app even better.
