The official Stadia Bluetooth site is gone, but there’s still a way to update your controller

Last month, we warned you that the tool allowing users to convert their Stadia controllers to Bluetooth mode was officially coming to an end. Well, the clock has finally run out. After missing its original December 31, 2025, deadline by a few weeks, the official website at stadia.google.com/controller is now returning a 404 error. But if you have a controller gathering dust in a drawer that you forgot to update, don’t panic. There is still a way to save it.

Christopher Klay, the developer behind the popular (and now defunct) Stadia Enhanced browser extension, has stepped up to fill the gap. Like many in the community, he saved a copy of the web tool before Google pulled the plug and is now hosting a working version on his personal GitHub page.

Because the tool itself is web-based and Google stopped releasing firmware updates for the controller years ago, this backup works exactly like the official site did. It allows you to unlock the Bluetooth functionality on your controller, saving it from becoming a wired-only relic.

How to convert your Stadia controller to Bluetooth in 2026

The process remains the same as before, just with a different URL.

1. Head over to Christopher Klay’s GitHub page.
2. Plug your controller into your computer via USB-C.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to flash the firmware.

It is a relief to see the community keeping this hardware alive! The Stadia Controller is still fantastic with great ergonomics, and thanks to this backup, it doesn’t have to end up in a landfill just because Google turned off the lights. RIP Stadia!
