Google’s latest wired indoor security camera, the 3rd Gen Nest Cam Indoor, is currently seeing a solid discount at multiple retailers. Normally priced at $99, you can grab this upgraded hardware for as much as 25% off!
The 3rd Gen Nest Cam brings substantial improvements to the table, delivering the best image quality we’ve seen on a Nest camera to date. The resolution has been bumped to a crisp 2K HDR, paired with a wider 152-degree diagonal field of view and a 6x digital zoom. Alongside the improved resolution, new sensors provide greatly enhanced low-light performance, ensuring your footage remains detailed and usable regardless of the lighting conditions in your home.
Unlocking Gemini for Home
This upgraded hardware also unlocks several new Gemini for Home features. The integration of advanced AI allows for highly detailed notifications, stepping beyond generic motion alerts to specific descriptions like “dog jumps out of playpen.” And Gemini enables natural language video search, letting you just ask your Google Home app conversational questions like, “What happened to the vase in the living room?”
You also get access to the new “Home Brief” feature, which condenses hours of video footage into a quick, digestible text summary. Google is even throwing in more value right out of the box without a subscription by doubling the free event video history from the previous three hours up to six hours on all the new cameras.
Nest Cam vs. the budget competition
While the $20 Onn Indoor Camera is an incredibly budget-friendly alternative that also works directly with the Google Home app, you are making some trade-offs in quality and functionality. The Onn camera limits you to 1080p resolution, a narrower 130-degree field of view, and a basic, lightweight plastic build.
More importantly, the Onn camera focuses entirely on basic monitoring. You miss out entirely on the Nest Cam’s facial recognition, advanced Gemini AI integration, and specific alert descriptions. For those heavily invested in the Google ecosystem who want to take advantage of natural language queries, the premium build, multiple color options, and AI features of the Nest Cam easily justify the higher price tag.
Where to buy
If you are ready to upgrade your indoor security setup, Amazon is currently offering the best blanket deal, taking $25 off all three colorways to bring the price down to $74. Walmart is matching this discount on the Berry color, and Target also has the Snow color available at this same price.
Alternatively, if you prefer to buy directly from the source or pick it up locally, Best Buy is offering a $20 discount. Given that the Google Store and Best Buy sales officially end today, February 19th, it is highly likely that Amazon and Walmart will pull their price-matching offers by midnight tonight.
