Samsung’s Galaxy XR includes an ‘Explorer Pack’ of freebies for early adopters worth over $1,000

At $1,799, the new Samsung Galaxy XR is a pretty serious investment. This is the first Android XR device, and it’s squarely aimed at early adopters who want to be on the cutting edge of the new platform. And while it undercuts the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro, you’re still putting down a good chunk of change to buy this first-gen device.

But it seems like Samsung and Google are keenly aware of this, because they’ve bundled the headset with something called “The Explorer Pack” and it’s not just a collection of random throwaways. This is a genuinely valuable bundle of freebies valued at over $1,000, and it’s included with every Galaxy XR purchased before the end of 2025. If you were on the fence, this bundle is designed to make that high price tag much easier to swallow.

A full year of premium Google subscriptions

The most significant, tangible value comes from the three 12-month subscriptions. For the first year of owning your Galaxy XR, you’ll get:

  • 12 months of Google AI Pro: This is the paid tier that gives you access to Google’s most powerful AI models, like Gemini Advanced. Given that AI is at the absolute core of the Android XR experience, this one makes perfect sense.
  • 12 months of YouTube Premium: This is a big one. Ad-free YouTube and YouTube Music for an entire year is a fantastic perk!
  • 12 months of Google Play Pass: Access to over a thousand games and apps without ads or in-app purchases.

The premium content and app bundle

On top of the core services, the pack is loaded with content designed to show off what the headset can do:

  • A full season of NBA League Pass (2025-2026): This is a huge win for sports fans. The entire premise of watching multiple games at once on a massive virtual screen is a key selling point, and now early adopters can try it for a whole season.
  • YouTube TV trial: A 3-month trial for just $1 per month.
  • Key XR Apps: You get full access to some of the launch titles, including Adobe’s Project Pulsar (the killer creative app we’re so excited about), NFL PRO ERA, the interactive film Asteroid, and the mindfulness app Calm.

Why this bundle is so smart

This isn’t just a random assortment of deals. It looks like Samsung and Google carefully curated a package designed to do one thing: get you to use the Galaxy XR as intended. And yes, $1799 is a lot to ask for a first-gen product. But if you’re an early adopter who was already paying for YouTube Premium and was considering NBA League Pass, the value of this bundle is pretty awesome. I think it’s a very smart move to soften the blow and ensure that the first wave of Galaxy XR owners have access to a library of content and services to explore from day one.
