The Samsung Chromebook Pro has officially made its debut, sort of. Samsung’s official statement gave us a clear release date of May 28th. While there are some options to purchase right now, no outlets are showing an actual availability of the Pro. So, if you’re still looking to get your hands on the Chromebook Pro, here are your options to at least secure one at the moment.
Samsung has listed two retailers apart from their own store where the Pro would be available for purchase on the 28th. One of those retailers being Best Buy and the other, Amazon. As of this morning, Best Buy has yet to list the Pro which is very unusual for them. We have seen many instances in the past where the electronics retailer has listed a device well before its release date.
Samsung’s store has yet to place the Pro for sale either. If you head to their site you will find a “where to buy” button and, if you are so inclined to click it, you will be given no options to purchase. It was our hope that the tech giant would be a bit better prepared for the Pro’s release than it was the Chromebook Plus. It’s unclear as to why the launch of the Pro has been such a mess but hopefully Samsung will get it sorted soon.
To the point, where CAN you buy the Samsung Chromebook Pro?
I have found a couple of other online retailers that are advertising the Pro for pre-order but each have their own caveats. B&H Photo is selling the Pro for $549.99 and as always offers free, expedited shipping which is 1-3 days in the United States. You also pay no tax if you live outside of New York. The catch is that there is no estimated stocking date for the Pro. Being that Best Buy and Amazon are Samsung’s advertised retailers you will likely be in line behind a slew of others who have pre-ordered.
If you don’t mind the wait, then this deal is as good as any. Me, I don’t have that kind of patience.
Newegg is also taking orders for the Pro. They at least have an expected stock date. According to the site, The Chromebook Pro will be released June 8th. Newegg does not collect taxed for most states and offers standard, $5.99 flat shipping fee. That puts you a bit over a week out if Newegg is able to stock the Samsung.
CDW has the Pro for pre-order as well but, in my opinion, it’s not a viable option. For starters the link says call for availability. Translation? We don’t know when we will have this in stock. On top of that you will pay a minimum of $20.00 for shipping and you will be taxed at the time of purchase. For me to get the Pro from them would cost me a grand total of $625.75. Nope, not today.
That brings us right back to Amazon. The Samsung Chromebook Pro was up for pre-order a few hours early this weekend. Despite Amazon’s apparent price gouge of $599, the listing has since been adjusted and shoppers who paid the inflated price were credited the difference. Good form Amazon.
Currently, the Pro is listed as “temporarily out of stock” but you can still place your order. When stock is replenished, your Chromebook will ship. You will pay tax on the Pro but shipping is free and since Amazon is listed as a retailer by Samsung they will likely get inventory before other stores.

As more retailers begin to stock the Pro we will report back on pricing and availability.
