As we’ve seen the release of a few cloud gaming-focused Chromebooks in the last month, I’ve been utilizing NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW a whole lot more than I ever was prior. From playing Fortnite with my kids to finally working on my skills in Apex Legends, GeForce NOW has been at the front and center of my Chromebook use in the past few weeks.
Where I once used it as a proof of concept, I’m now actually getting some quality gaming time in with GeForce NOW and am continually impressed with the overall quality of the service. Many times, I have to remind myself that the games I’m playing on my Chromebook are actually being rendered on a server that is miles away because the actual experience feels like anything but that.
Priority Tier price drop
Even though I’ve only recently become a regular user of GeForce NOW, I’ve always felt their pricing was reasonable for what you get. Assuming you are in a place to take advantage of a streaming game service (solid internet connection, etc.), what you get for the money with GeForce NOW is solid in my opinion. Not only do you get access to a gaming rig that is far better than anything I’ve personally owned in the past decade, you can also tap into your existing Steam library to play stuff you already own, too.
For most of us, the Priority tier is the sweet spot for NVIDIA’s paid tiers, giving you upgrades like priority access to servers, 6 continuous hours of game play time, 60FPS, and RTX ray tracing. Sure, it’s only at 1080p, but for most laptops (especially Chromebooks), that’s a solid resolution with very solid performance.
Upgrading to the Priority tier is almost a necessity if you plan on playing games via GeForce NOW very often, and right now, you can do that for a lot cheaper than normal. If you head to the sign up page, you can sign up for 6 months of Priority service for $29.99, or about $5/month. You’ll need to pay for the 6 months up front, but it is definitely worth the investment. If you pay monthly, for instance, you’ll drop $9.99 each 30 days, so this ends up being a 50% discount over that method.
With GeForce NOW’s performance of late, I can’t recommend this enough if you are considering using the service even a little bit. While the top-end RTX 3080 tier is definitely not for everyone, this Priority tier definitely is. The new gaming-focused Chromebooks come with 3 free months of the high-end goods, but after it runs out, I’ll likely drop back to the Priority tier as well. It’s a solid deal at its normal price, but this discount is too good to miss. We’re unsure how long it will last, so if you are at all interested, don’t miss it!
