Google’s premium TV Streamer is on sale, and here’s why it might be for you

We’ve talked extensively about the fantastic value that Walmart’s Onn Google TV streaming devices offer. From the powerful Onn 4K Pro to the new 4K Plus, these budget-friendly streamers have truly nailed it, delivering a premium Google TV experience for a fraction of the price. But what if you still want the device that comes directly from Google, with all the bells and whistles? Good news: Google’s flagship 4K TV Streamer is now on sale for just $79.99 at Walmart.

This $20 discount brings it significantly closer to the Onn devices and makes it a much more palatable option for those who want the “Made by Google” experience.

While we love the Onn devices (and you can still grab the Onn 4K Pro at Walmart for $45 or the Onn 4K Plus for $30 if budget is your absolute top priority), Google’s own streamer offers a few key advantages that might make the extra cost worth it for you.

One of the big differentiators is the deeper Google Home integration, and this is where Google’s own device truly shines. While the Onn boxes work with Google Home, the first-party streamer offers a more seamless and robust experience. If you’re heavily invested in the Google Home platform and have a Nest Doorbell or cameras, this is a distinct advantage.

And then there’s the design. Let’s be honest, if your streamer is going to be out on a shelf and visible, the Google TV Streamer strikes a far more attractive and aesthetically pleasing pose than the more utilitarian Onn boxes. It’s a small detail, but for those who care about their setup’s appearance, it’s a valid consideration.

While it may require a separate HDMI cable (a minor quibble), the Google TV Streamer still delivers a more refined and premium experience overall. If you’re looking for the absolute best Google TV experience directly from the source, and want those deeper smart home ties and a sleeker design, this sale makes it a compelling choice.
