Google’s agentic AI, Gemini Spark, is now available on the $20 Pro tier in the US

Google is officially expanding access to Gemini Spark, the agentic AI assistant they first unveiled at this year’s I/O developer conference. According to Google’s latest update, Spark is now rolling out to users on the $20-a-month Google AI Pro tier in the US, while also expanding globally with local language support for those on the higher-tier Google AI Ultra plans. Unfortunately, if you were hoping to test out Google’s autonomous assistant on a free account, or using a work or school account, you are still out of luck.

Since its debut, Gemini Spark has been locked behind the Google AI Ultra subscription, which runs anywhere from $100 to $200 a month. Bringing it down to the $20 AI Pro tier in the US certainly makes this more accessible for regular users who want a digital assistant that can actually handle tasks in the background. For international users, the global Ultra rollout is a welcome expansion, though there are some notable regional exceptions. Google confirmed that the expansion currently excludes the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, and Nigeria.

Unlike a traditional chatbot that just answers prompts, Spark is powered by Gemini 3.5 and designed to act as an autonomous agent that is deeply integrated into your Google apps and connected skills. You access it through a dedicated Spark page via the Gemini mobile app, the new Mac app, or at gemini.google.com, where you can hand off time-consuming, multi-step tasks to run on customized schedules. To use the feature, you just need to be over 18, signed in with a personal Google Account, and have Keep Activity turned on.

Instead of manually sorting your inbox, you can tell Spark to check your emails every morning, summarize or archive newsletters, and unsubscribe from lists you no longer read. It can automatically pull from meeting notes to generate fully formatted reports in Google Docs, draft responses when specific people email you, or build custom news digests with fully cited research on topics you care about.

Gemini Spark is exactly the kind of background utility that makes AI feel like an actual assistant rather than a novelty, as long as it can actually get things done for you. So while it would be nice for all users to start trying this out now, dropping the entry price to $20 in the US is a big step forward for making agentic AI a practical part of our daily workflows.
