The dust is just beginning to settle from The Android Show and the massive Googlebook announcement, and Google is beginning the work of building hype for the fall hardware launch. If you were looking for a centralized place to see what this new platform is all about, Google has officially spun up a dedicated Googlebook landing page, and it is an absolute visual treat.
A beautiful visual showcase
While the site doesn’t necessarily drop any massive new bombshells about the operating system that we didn’t already cover from the initial announcements, it does an incredible job of visualizing exactly how these AI features are going to look and feel.
It features some slick, animated visualizations of the new Magic Pointer in action, showing how you can seamlessly combine images or pull context right from your desktop. There are also great visual representations of the “Create My Widget” feature and the highly anticipated “Cast My Apps” functionality that will let you open your Android phone apps directly on the laptop screen without installing them.
Featherweight design, heavyweight power
If there is one tiny new nugget of information to glean from the site, it is a new marketing tagline: “Featherweight design. Heavyweight power.” This gives us a pretty clear indication of the physical footprint Google and its partners are targeting for this initial wave of premium devices. We are expecting the five initial OEMs (Dell, HP, Lenovo,Acer, and ASUS) to pack in some serious performance into thin, lightweight chassis.
Right now, the site serves primarily as an interactive teaser and a place to sign up for email notifications. But as we move through the summer and get closer to that official fall release window, this URL may be a place where some big hardware reveals may be showcased. For now, it’s just a gorgeous showcase for Googlebook, and a site you should go check out.
