Gemini can now generate and export full files directly in your chat

One of the biggest hurdles to using AI for productivity has always been the copy-paste hassle. Today, Google is fixing that by allowing the Gemini app to create ready-to-use files on the fly.

From Prompt to PDF

With this update, you can simply ask Gemini to “Create a PDF of this summary” or “Export this budget to an Excel file.” The AI handles the heavy lifting, generating a file that you can then download directly to your device or export straight to Google Drive.

Massive Format Support

Google isn’t just limiting this to its own Workspace apps. The list of supported file formats is surprisingly robust, making Gemini a much more versatile tool for cross-platform workflows:

• Google Workspace: Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
• Microsoft Office: Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx).
• Standard Formats: PDF, CSV, and Plain Text (.txt).
• Developer & Power User Formats: LaTeX, Markdown (.md), and Rich Text Format (.rtf).
