When it comes to photo editors, we’ve tried more than we can count. While there are a lot of great choices out there for Chromebook users, very few offer robust options in an offline editor. Autodesk’s Pixlr Touch Up has been around for a few years now and is by far one of my favorite editors for quick, quality image editing.
With Pixlr Touch Up you can easily crop and resize your photos or add any number of preset overlays to create a unique look for your images. You can also create text in your photos with a handful of artistic fonts in a text box that lets you easily resize and rotate with a simple click.
As you can see, the dashboard for Pixlr Touch Up offers a very versatile UI with an array of editing options.(Liquify is a fun one) For more in depth editing, there are obviously better options. Pixlr Touch Up does not allow importing of multiple images nor does it support .svg files. But, as far as basic image editing goes, Pixlr Touch Up will certainly meet the needs of the average user.
The only real negative about this App? Autodesk is no longer providing “official support” for Pixlr Touch Up. It is now a Legacy app and when the day comes that it breaks, it will be no more. Until then, I’ll continue to make use of the handy offline Photo Editor.
