Since the inception of the website side of Chrome Unboxed nearly one year ago, Gabriel and I have encountered and learned so much while running this site. The growth of the fan and reader base has been amazing to watch and we are so grateful to all of you who have been a part of that.

There’s always been this lingering desire, however, and that’s what we want to address today.

You see, long before Chromebooks were even a thing, we were both very plugged in to the tech scene. Computers when we were younger, game systems, TVs, CDs, DVDs, smartphones and tablets are all things I remember seeing evolve and become reality right in front of me. I’ve always wondered what is next. What will they build? How will tech shape our reality?

Chromebooks fit right into that urge to see what is next and what could emerge and I’ve been following along since Chrome OS was first conceived. I love it, Gabriel loves it, and writing for and managing Chrome Unboxed is a dream come true for us. We have so much more to do with this site in the coming years and I can’t wait to watch Chromebooks bloom in all the places we’ve anticipated.

I can’t wait to write about all of it.

So Much Out There

But, as much as we love all things Chrome OS, that doesn’t mean we turn a blind eye to all the amazing things that are going on in the world. It doesn’t mean I wasn’t excited about a new, $329 iPad earlier this year. It doesn’t mean we didn’t walk around like kids in a candy store at CES back in January.

There’s just so much to talk and write about.

As I said before, I can speak for Gabriel and I both when I say that seeing new products evolve into reality is incredibly intruiging. Catching the first whispers and rumors about a new service, product or creative work is exciting. Following the development and getting amped about all the possibilities this new thing could bring and watching it evolve over time is an amazing thing.

So, we thought it may be time to start writing about that stuff.

We are proud to announce the launch of Reliable Rumors

Right now, we are launching reliablerumors.com, a site dedicated to covering tech from rumor to release. Anything is fair game on this site. Cars, phones, computers, TV, gaming, cinema: you name it, we’re allowing it.

How can we cover such a broad base of material? Here’s the thing. There aren’t many sites that are dedicated to the rumor and pre-release phases of tech alone. With Reliable Rumors, you won’t see a bunch of tech reviews and unboxings. Instead, we’ll be focused on scraping up details on unreleased items, what they could become, and what they could mean in the market. We’ll cover their release, but after that we’ll let them go.

There are plenty of tech sites that cover reviews and ongoing news about devices. We aren’t trying to be The Verge or Engadget. We simply want to talk about all the other stuff we see coming in the tech industry.

We want to dig around and find the next game-changers and at the same time find that next, upcoming gadget that only a handful of readers will be completely enthralled about.

We want to cover tech as it develops.

Chrome Unboxed Isn’t Going Anywhere

I’m sure some of you are wondering if we’ll let Chrome Unboxed dwindle. Let me answer that very clearly.

Chrome Unboxed is our flagship site. It will remain our flagship site. I can say, without hesitation, that if I could only report on one segment of the tech scene, it would be about Chromebooks. There is an inherent love of Chrome OS and this ecosystem that is growing that cannot be replaced by any other tech gadget.

We are in it for the long-haul, folks. Don’t worry about that.

We simply want to spread our wings a bit. We may fly. We might fall. But we at least want to try.

What Can I Do?

You may be wondering how you can help. Glad you asked.

We’ll be running the site in a very similar manner to Chrome Unboxed, so the way you’ve all supported us here, we’d love your company over at reliablerumors.com as well.

Down in the footer, you can subscribe just like you do here. There are also social channels to follow. Please check out the site, subscribe, and follow us on social media.

Lastly, you can share the new site and articles with your social feeds. Nothing new or ground-breaking, but sometimes we simply have to ask.

While you are at it, if you don’t subscribe here or follow us on social media, you can do that too!

Welcome to Reliable Rumors

So, without further ado, I give you Reliable Rumors: a new site from the creators of Chrome Unboxed, covering all things tech from rumor to release. We hope you enjoy it as much as we’ve already enjoyed creating it.

We look forward to all the future holds!
