UPDATE: 4/3/2025 – We posted yesterday that the radar map had returned to the Google Weather app for users in our office, and Google has now reached out to confirm: “We’re rolling out a fix that restores the weather map in the Pixel Weather App.” Looks like there was just an issue that needed some attention! Original post follows the break.
It wasn’t that long ago that Google added the long-awaited radar map to their popular, clean, effective weather app. I’ve not been a huge fan of it, but it’s at least been enough to keep me from opening up other weather apps to keep an eye on approaching weather.
And all of the sudden, it is now completely gone. The card is straight-up missing from the city view and there’s nowhere to access it right now in the app. And it’s not a regional thing, or a “no rain, no map” situation. It seems it has disappeared across all Pixel devices, everywhere.
All the other weather blocks are still here and doing their thing – the AI report, hourly and 10-day forecasts, wind, UV, humidity, and all the others. But that radar map seems to have vanished with version 1.0.20250127.729684887 of the Pixel Weather app with no real explanation from Google as to why.
I’d guess this is either a feature update in the works or a straightforward bug. Either way, I’m hoping it will return soon. I can’t really see a scenario where Google would finally get around to adding such a key weather tracking feature only to remove it so shortly after it arrived.
But that’s just my gut feeling. I do suppose there is a reality where Google didn’t like the performance of the map and have decided to remove it from the app. Again, I don’t see this as a likelihood, but until Google steps in toe clarify, we simply don’t know. We’ll be keeping an eye on it, though.
