Google is making a major move to bring its most advanced AI tools to the masses. Recently, the company announced that Google AI Plus is expanding to 35 new countries, including the United States. Priced at just $7.99 per month, this new tier effectively bridges the gap between the free version of Gemini and the high-end $20/month AI Pro plan.

This launch is a significant win for users who want premium AI features without the “Pro” price tag. It’s a direct challenge to the “mini” subscription tiers we’ve seen from competitors, offering a balanced mix of high-end silicon and cloud storage.

What’s included

For $7.99, Google AI Plus unlocks a suite of features that were previously gated behind much more expensive subscriptions:

  • Gemini 3 Pro: Higher usage limits for Google’s most capable conversational model.
  • Nano Banana Pro: Access to the viral, high-precision image generation and editing model directly within the Gemini app.
  • AI Filmmaking in Flow: 200 monthly credits to use Google’s “Veo” video generation models to create and edit cinematic clips.
  • Premium NotebookLM: Enhanced research and writing assistance, including more Audio Overviews and larger source limits for your notebooks.
  • Google Workspace Integration: The ability to use Gemini directly in Gmail, Docs, and more to draft, summarize, and organize your digital life.

The 2TB “Hidden” Upgrade

Perhaps the most interesting part of this announcement is the ripple effect it has on existing Google One subscribers. Google One Premium (2TB) members are getting an automatic upgrade. If you already pay $9.99/month for 2TB of storage, you will inherit all the benefits of Google AI Plus—including Gemini in Workspace and Nano Banana Pro—at no extra cost in the coming days. This essentially turns the 2TB plan into the best value in Google’s entire lineup, as it offers ten times the storage of the AI Plus plan for only $2 more.

Shared Benefits for the Family

Like most Google One plans, the benefits of Google AI Plus are built to be shared. You can extend the AI tools and the 200GB of included storage to up to five additional family members, making it an affordable way to get an entire household up to speed with the latest AI tools.

To celebrate the global rollout, Google is offering a “Welcome Deal” for new subscribers: 50% off for the first two months. In the U.S., that brings the price down to just $3.99/month for the start of your subscription.

With the arrival of AI Plus, Google is making it clear that 2026 is the year AI becomes an everyday utility rather than a luxury. Whether you’re a student using NotebookLM to study or a creator using Flow to build videos, the barrier to entry has never been lower.
