When Google Labs first unveiled Opal, its no-code AI mini-app builder, we were incredibly excited. It’s one of those projects that truly feels like the future, giving anyone the power to build custom AI tools without writing a single line of code. After a limited initial roll-out in 15 countries, Google saw what we all saw: this thing is powerful, and more people need to get their hands on it.

This week, Google is delivering on that with a massive global expansion. In a new post on the Google Labs blog, the company announced that Opal is expanding from its initial 15 countries to more than 160 countries. This is a huge move that takes Opal from a limited experiment to a true global platform, putting these powerful AI creation tools in the hands of users and entrepreneurs almost everywhere.

What are people building with Opal?

Google also shared some of the top ways people are already using Opal, and it goes far beyond simple “what if” scenarios. Users are building complex, multi-step workflows to solve real-world problems. Here are a few of the top examples Google shared:

  • Automating complex tasks: People are building apps that can streamline research by automatically extracting web data, analyzing the findings, and saving the results directly into Google Sheets. Others are creating repeatable workflows for tasks like weekly newsletters, contract redlining, and meal planning.
  • Creating custom content: Marketers and creators are using Opal as a “marketing asset generator” , turning a single product concept into a full suite of optimized blog posts, social media captions, and video ad scripts. Others are making interactive storytelling apps that can help brainstorm narratives, generate scripts, and even produce audio voiceovers.
  • Going from “Idea to MVP” in minutes: Opal is dramatically lowering the barrier for entrepreneurs. We’re seeing people quickly build and validate ideas for things like custom language learning apps, travel planners, and quiz generators.

This is a fantastic and rapid expansion for one of the most exciting projects to come out of Google Labs. We can’t wait to see what creators around the world will build now that Opal is available to nearly everyone. You can try it for yourself at opal.google.
