The pace of AI development at Google is staggering, and it can be tough to keep track of all the new features rolling out for Gemini. To help with this, Google is kicking off a new monthly update series called “Gemini Drops,” designed to showcase what’s new in the Gemini app and how to make the most of it.

It’s a fantastic way to stay in the loop, and this first drop for July is packed with some incredible new capabilities, from mind-blowing video creation to helpful updates for your watch. Let’s dive in.

Transform your photos into video with Veo 3

This is the showstopper. You can now use Google’s state-of-the-art Veo 3 model to transform your favorite photos into dynamic eight-second video clips, complete with sound, right in the Gemini app. We went hands-on with this last week and were absolutely blown away by the quality. This is a powerful new creative tool that feels like magic.

Gemini arrives on your Wear OS watch

The wait is over. As we covered last week, Gemini is now officially rolling out to all Wear OS 4+ watches. This brings a far more intelligent and capable AI assistant to your wrist, allowing you to summarize emails, create playlists, and ask complex questions without ever pulling out your phone.

Plan your day with Scheduled Actions

This is a brand-new, incredibly practical feature. You can now use Scheduled Actions to have Gemini perform tasks at a specific time. For example, you can ask Gemini to provide a summary of your calendar and unread emails every morning when you wake up. It’s a powerful new way to automate parts of your day.

Gemini 2.5 Pro gets even smarter

For subscribers, Google’s most intelligent model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, is getting even better. The latest updates have improved its performance in key areas like coding, science, reasoning, and multimodal understanding.

Captions come to Gemini Live

In a highly-requested update, captions are now available in Gemini Live. This is a fantastic accessibility feature that lets you read along as you have a real-time voice conversation with Gemini, making the experience more useful for everyone.

This is a packed first Gemini Drop, and Google has launched a new Gemini Drops Hub website where you can learn more about all the features. It’s a great resource, and we’re excited to see what the next drop brings.
