Just days after its unexpected vanishing act, the radar map within Google’s Weather app has reappeared. As a relatively-recent and welcome addition to the app, the radar map provides users with real-time visualization of approaching precipitation and storms; and its sudden absence made us wonder if it was part of a feature update, a bug, or a removal of the map altogether.
It now appears the issue was resolved server-side, with the map returning to its original state. The issue occurred with version 1.0.20250127.729684887 of the Pixel Weather app, leaving users without this important tool for tracking precipitation and storm systems over the past few days.
The rapid restoration of the radar map suggests that this was all a bug as it has returned without any noticeable changes. While still not my favorite radar to track storms and rain with, I can’t deny the usefulness of it right there in Google’s Weather app. With it being one touch away via the At a Glance section on my Pixel’s home screen, I’m in the Weather app a lot. Having the quick-glance radar back is definitely a welcome thing.
