Google Vids just got a massive upgrade with Veo 3.1 “Ingredients-to-Video”

If you’ve ever tried to use AI to make a video for work, you know the struggle. You generate a clip of a person or a product, and it looks great. Then you try to generate a second clip of that same subject from a different angle, and suddenly it looks like a completely different person (or a weirdly morphed version of your product).

Consistency has been the Achilles heel of AI video thus far, but Google is claiming they’ve solved it. Rolling out now to Workspace users, Google Vids is adding a new “ingredients-to-video” capability powered by the new Veo 3.1 model.

What is “Ingredients-to-Video”?

Forget the weird name for a second. What this feature actually does is incredible. It allows you to upload up to three specific images (your “ingredients”) and a text prompt. Veo 3.1 then uses those images as anchors to generate an eight-second video clip that actually looks like the images you provided.

This solves one of the biggest headaches in AI video creation: Subject Consistency. According to the update, this new capability ensures “consistent subjects, characters, and objects.” This means:

  • For Marketing: You can upload a photo of your actual physical product, and Veo will generate a video of it being used, held, or rotated, keeping the product looking accurate rather than hallucinating a generic version.
  • For Training/Storytelling: You can upload a character reference, and generate multiple shots of that person doing different tasks while keeping their face identical.
  • For Branding: You can upload a company logo and turn it into a cinematic intro without the AI mangling the text or font.

Why this matters for Workspace

This turns Google Vids from a fun creative tool into a legitimate production asset. Being able to take a static photo of a prototype or a new employee and turn it into a usable B-roll clip for a presentation is a game-changer.

Rollout and Availability

This is a high-end feature, so it’s rolling out to the paid tiers. It is available for Business (Starter/Standard/Plus), Enterprise, and Education Plus users, as well as those with Gemini Business/Enterprise or Google AI Pro/Ultra add-ons.

  • Rapid Release Domains: Already started (Nov 12) with a gradual rollout.
  • Scheduled Release Domains: Full rollout starting December 3, 2025.

If you see this pop up in your Vids interface, try uploading a few product shots and see what Veo can do. If it works as advertised, we just entered a new era of office video production.
