At Google I/O, we got a clear picture of how the latest Gemini models would enable dramatically more powerful capabilities in Google Search. Today, Google is beginning to deliver on that promise by rolling out some of its most advanced features yet, including Deep Search and access to the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, for its paid Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. Additionally, a brand-new “agentic” feature that lets the AI call businesses for you is rolling out for everyone.

Supercharging AI Mode for subscribers

The most powerful new tools are reserved for those with a Google AI Pro or AI Ultra subscription and are being integrated into AI Mode.

Starting today, subscribers can now select Gemini 2.5 Pro from a drop-down menu within the AI Mode tab in Search. This gives you direct access to Google’s most intelligent AI model, which excels at advanced reasoning, math, and coding questions, perfect for your most complex queries.

For those times when you need an even more thorough response, Google is also introducing Deep Search. Powered by the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, this is Google’s most advanced research tool. It can save you hours of work by issuing hundreds of searches on your behalf, reasoning across all the information, and crafting a comprehensive, fully-cited report in just minutes. It’s designed for in-depth research for your job or studies, or for helping with big life decisions like buying a new house.

Both Deep Search and Gemini 2.5 Pro access are starting to roll out this week for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. who are opted into the AI Mode experiment in Labs.

Let Gemini make the call

In a move that feels truly futuristic, Google is also rolling out a new “agentic” capability that lets the AI make calls to local businesses on your behalf. Whether you’re looking for pet grooming or dry cleaning, Search can now call businesses for you to get pricing and availability information.

When you search for a local service, you may see a new option to “Have AI check pricing.” You can then submit your specific request, and Search will do the work of calling around and consolidating the information for you, presenting you with a range of options.

This feature is now starting to roll out to all Search users in the U.S., but Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers will get higher usage limits.

This is a clear signal of Google’s strategy moving forward: while advanced AI capabilities will continue to come to all users, the most cutting-edge and powerful features will be offered to subscribers first.
