A few months ago, Google announced a suite of new creative, AI-powered tools that were on their way to Google Photos. And now, those features are getting a proper home, as Google has announced that the new Create tab is now officially rolling out in the U.S. And as part of this launch, one of its most magical features—Photo to video—is getting a massive quality boost.

Meet the new ‘Create tab’

The new Create tab is designed to be your central hub for all things creative within the Google Photos app. It’s a fantastic organizational move that puts all the various tools for making fun content with your pictures and videos in one easy-to-find place.

Inside this new tab, you’ll find both familiar and new features, including the Collage maker, the AI-powered Highlight videos creator, the GIF-making Animations tool, the ability to create Cinematic photos, and the new AI Remix tool. But the biggest news is the upgrade to Photo to video.

‘Photo to video’ gets a Veo 3 power-up

The already-impressive “Photo to video” feature, which turns your static images into short, dynamic video clips, is being enhanced with Google’s state-of-the-art Veo 3 video generation model. This is the same powerful model behind Google’s most advanced video AI, and it means the short clips you create from your still photos will now be of an even higher quality.

It’s important to note how this feature will be available. All Google Photos users will get a limited number of free Photo to video generations each day. If you want to create more, you’ll need a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription, which will give you a higher daily limit.

The same usage model also applies to the Remix feature, which reimagines your photos in different styles like anime, comic, or 3D animation.

This is a fantastic set of updates for Google Photos. The new Create tab makes it easier than ever to find the tools you need to bring your memories to life, and the Veo 3 upgrade makes the results of Photo to video more impressive than ever. If you’re in the U.S., be sure to check your Google Photos app for the new tab and start creating!
