It has been a big year for Google’s image generation and editing model, Nano Banana. Starting with its debut in August as an impressive tool, it quickly evolved from the high-speed Gemini 2.5 Flash Image model into the professional-grade Nano Banana Pro: powered by the advanced reasoning and real-world knowledge of Gemini 3 Pro. For just about any image editing you can imagine, Nano Banana has become the go-to engine for bringing creative prompts to life.

Before 2025 comes to a close, Google is looking back at the most fun and creative trends that defined the year. Whether users were leveraging its ability to maintain character consistency across edits or using its advanced reasoning to visualize data, these trends show exactly why Nano Banana dominated the AI image generation space.

Cinematic photo transformations

One of the most popular uses for Nano Banana this year was the ability to take a simple daytime photo and completely shift its mood. By using prompts like “Turn this into a night scene, lit by the moon, with dramatic shadows,” users were able to overhaul lighting and atmospheric conditions without losing the integrity of the original subject.

Personalized pet figurines

Pet owners found a unique way to celebrate their furry friends by turning them into digital collectibles. Using Nano Banana’s spatial understanding, users created realistic 3D models of their pets, often placing them in heart-warming scenes like sitting on a desk as an unwrapped gift.

Portraits with your younger self

Nostalgia was a major theme in 2025, and Nano Banana’s image blending capabilities made it possible to “meet” your past self. By providing a childhood photo and a current one, users generated Polaroid-style images that looked like genuine, heartwarming snapshots of their older selves hugging their younger selves.

Instant multi-panel comics

For those with a story to tell but no drawing skills, Nano Banana turned text into sequential art. From baby superheroes saving cities from “evil broccoli” to intricate three-panel adventures, the model’s ability to maintain character consistency across frames made it a favorite for aspiring storytellers.

Watercolor and artistic masterpieces

Beyond photorealism, users leaned into Nano Banana’s “artistic” side. Prompting for specific styles—like a cozy watercolor painting of a gingerbread house—allowed creators to generate warm, textured visuals that felt handcrafted rather than computer-generated.

Low-stakes hairstyle experiments

Before heading to the salon, many users turned to Nano Banana to test-drive a new look. Whether it was seeing how they’d look as a blonde with bangs or experimenting with bold color changes, the model’s precise facial mapping ensured the results were surprisingly realistic.

Data-driven complex infographics

With the launch of Nano Banana Pro, the model’s reasoning capabilities took center stage. Students and professionals alike began using it to generate complex infographics, turning raw information about plants, tech, or history into visually structured, easy-to-read charts.

Realistic holiday portrait

Holiday cards got a major AI upgrade this year. Users transformed casual selfies with their pets into high-fidelity holiday portraits, complete with matching pajamas, Christmas trees, and gold-wrapped gifts, all while maintaining their real facial features and consistent lighting.

Stunning isometric worlds

Designers and fantasy fans flocked to the “isometric” trend. By prompting for 3D isometric views, users created intricate “dollhouse” versions of everything from fantastical underwater cities to futuristic space stations, providing a unique bird’s-eye perspective on imaginary worlds.

Tabletop game inspiration

Game developers found a powerful prototyping tool in Nano Banana. By turning landscape photos into photorealistic, rustic game boards, creators were able to visualize obstacles, game pieces, and environmental themes for their board game concepts in a matter of seconds.

High-fashion and costume experiments

Fashion experimentation went viral this year as users reimagined their daily outfits. One of the standout prompts involved transforming a standard outfit into a detailed astronaut suit while keeping the exact patterns and colors of the original clothes.

Advanced photo restoration

Breathing new life into old memories was a major “win” for the model. Users leveraged Nano Banana to restore blurry or damaged historical photos, removing white streaks and adding vivid color while ensuring the facial features remained accurate to the original.

High-fashion “Puppies Galore” shoots

Closing out the list is the “editorial” trend. Users used Nano Banana to place themselves in high-fashion, editorial-style photography settings—surrounded by a sea of fluffy puppies. The model’s ability to handle dozens of independent objects while maintaining perfect lighting and a consistent “golden glow” made these images a hit on social media.
