Google is continuing its push to make creating polished presentations easier for everyone. Following up on the initial release of modern templates last November, Google Slides is now receiving a second wave of professionally designed options to further streamline the process of building compelling slide decks.
This new collection expands the available choices, catering to a broader spectrum of needs. Whether you’re crafting a business proposal, pitching a new product, outlining a marketing strategy, presenting a quarterly review, or even introducing team members or celebrating milestones, there’s likely a template designed to give you a significant head start.

The core idea behind these templates remains the same: helping users conquer the dreaded blank page. Instead of spending valuable time fiddling with layouts, color schemes, and font pairings, these pre-built designs allow you to dive straight into refining your message and content. This not only saves time but also helps maintain a consistent, professional look and feel throughout your presentation, which is crucial for making a strong impact.
For end-users, accessing these new templates is straightforward. They can be found either via the new sidebar interface or by navigating to Insert > Templates within Slides. From there, you can browse the expanded collection; and once you find a template that suits your needs, you have the flexibility to insert the entire set of slides or pick and choose only the specific layouts you require before customizing them with your own text and images.
Availability and roll-out
For now, this feature is rolling out specifically for users who have their Google account language set to “English (United States)”. If your language is set differently, you won’t see these new templates just yet. You can check and update your language settings via your Google Account management page.
For those in managed Google Workspace environments, Admins should be aware that if your organization has already deployed custom default templates and themes, those will continue to take precedence. These new Google-provided templates will be available by default only in domains that do not have custom defaults enabled.
The rollout is beginning now for domains on the Rapid Release track, with a gradual deployment over the next 15 days starting April 22, 2025. For those on the Scheduled Release track, the roll-out will commence on May 6, 2025, also unfolding over approximately 15 days. This expanded template gallery will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google Accounts (provided the language setting is correct).
