Google continues its push to integrate powerful AI learning tools directly into its core products for students. Following the recent expansion of Video Overviews in NotebookLM, Google has now announced that the Flashcards feature in the Gemini app is available to Google Workspace for Education users of all ages.
Turn notes and quizzes into instant study aids
This new feature leverages Gemini’s AI to turn the often tedious task of creating study materials into an instant, automated process. Students can now ask Gemini to instantly create flashcards and study guides based on their quiz results or any other class materials they provide. It’s a simple yet incredibly effective way to review key concepts and reinforce learning.
One of the standout use cases highlighted by Google is the ability to get personalized study guidance. After completing a quiz within the Gemini app, students can ask it to create flashcards based specifically on those results. This allows them to automatically hone in on the subject areas where they need the most attention, making study time far more efficient.
Privacy and availability
As with other Gemini features for Education, Google emphasizes that this tool is covered under the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service and includes enterprise-grade data protection. This means student data is not reviewed by humans or used to train AI models.
The Flashcards feature is currently rolling out gradually and should be available to all eligible users within the next couple of weeks. It’s available to all Google Workspace for Education editions (Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus) and those with the Google AI Pro for Education add-on.
