This is the classic tech enthusiast’s dilemma: do you spring for the latest and greatest, or do you snag the good deal? The new Google Pixel Watch 4 has been out for about a month, and it’s a fantastic wearable. But it’s also expensive, and we haven’t seen a single discount on it yet.
Frankly, if you’re in the market for a Pixel Watch right now, I wouldn’t recommend the new one. Instead, you need to check out the Google Pixel Watch 3, which has just plummeted to a new record-low price. At this discount, you can get last year’s flagship for nearly half the price of this year’s, and the differences are far smaller than you’d think.
Here’s the price breakdown for this specific deal, but you’ll want to pay close attention as the best value is color-dependent. Walmart has dropped the price to $199.99 for both the smaller 41mm Pixel Watch 3 in Matte Black (normally $349) and, more impressively, the larger 45mm models in Matte Hazel and Polished Silver (normally $399). Curiously, if you want the 45mm watch in Matte Black, that specific model isn’t part of the $199 deal and is instead priced higher at $249.
The specs are closer than you think
The core experience of the Google Pixel Watch 3 remains remarkably competitive, which is why it’s such a great value on sale. Both the Watch 3 and the new Watch 4 run the exact same Wear OS 6 software, complete with Gemini integration. They also share the identical suite of advanced health and fitness sensors, including the multi-path heart rate sensor, SpO2, cEDA, and ECG.
With the same 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, the day-to-day app performance and best-in-class Fitbit health tracking are virtually indistinguishable between the two, meaning you aren’t sacrificing the core software or health features by opting for the older model.
The differences, however, are all about hardware and quality-of-life improvements. The Pixel Watch 4 delivers significantly better battery life, lasting up to 40 hours on a charge compared to the Watch 3’s 24 hours, all thanks to its new, more efficient Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor. The Watch 4 also features faster charging (0-50% in 15 minutes vs. 28), a brighter 3,000-nit screen with thinner bezels, upgraded dual-band GPS, and a new serviceable design, making it the first Pixel Watch that can be easily repaired.
Why this is the smart buy
But when you look at the whole picture, the Pixel Watch 3 delivers 95% of the same premium experience for half the cost. It’s a polished, all-around fantastic Wear OS device that will be supported with updates for years to come. If you’ve been waiting to get a Pixel Watch, this is the deal to jump on. A record-low price like this won’t last long!
