The response to our post yesterday about the leaked Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 was immediate and enthusiastic. It seems I’m not the only one incredibly excited to see another device finally making use of the fantastic MediaTek Kompanio Ultra chip. The leak – via a full Best Buy product listing – gave us a fantastic look at what is shaping up to be a truly sweet new Chromebook Plus.

But in a move that will surprise absolutely no one who follows these things, the Best Buy listing for the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 has been taken down. This isn’t too surprising, but it does confirm that this device’s debut was a bit premature. So, when might we see it officially? While I have no inside information on this, if I were a betting man, I’d put my money on a formal debut at IFA Berlin 2025.

Why IFA Berlin 2025 makes perfect sense

For those unfamiliar, IFA is a massive, global consumer electronics trade show held in Berlin every year. For 2025, the conference is scheduled for September 5-9, and the timing is just about perfect. With the leak happening near the end of August, it lines up and makes sense that a planned, splashy reveal at IFA 2025 was likely the intention for this device’s debut.

More importantly, Acer has a long and consistent history of using IFA as a launchpad for its new fall lineup of Chromebooks. It’s one of their main stages, and a premium, exciting new device like the Kompanio Ultra-powered Spin 514 is the exact type of product a company would want to roll out as a part of their new portfolio at the show.

So while I’m sure many of you are a bit bummed that you can’t just go and buy this awesome new Chromebook today, the good news is we likely won’t have to wait too long. The evidence strongly suggests that we’re just a few short weeks away from seeing the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 get its official, primetime unveiling. As always, we’ll be watching the news out of IFA very closely and will bring you all the availability details as soon as they are official.
