The Google TV Streamer hits a new all-time low, dropping to just $74.99

When Google launched the Google TV Streamer last year, it marked a significant step up from the Chromecasts we’d used for years. But its $99 price tag has always felt a bit steep to me, especially with the introduction of fantastic, hyper-competitive devices like Walmart’s Onn Google TV 4K Pro and Plus, which offers a similar experience for half the price or less.

It’s felt long overdue for Google to get more aggressive with the pricing on its in-house streamer to combat this new competition. We saw a good $20 discount back in April, but today’s deal is even better.

Starting now, the Google TV Streamer has hit a new all-time low price, bringing it down to just $74.99. This $25 discount represents a solid 25% saving off the standard $99.99 MSRP and makes Google’s premium-feeling streamer a much more compelling purchase.

We’ve been using the Onn Google TV 4K Pro in the office for months, and in all honesty, it’s so good that I rarely find myself wishing I had the official Google TV Streamer instead. That’s not a knock on Google’s device, but rather a testament to how well Onn nailed its high-end, low-cost box.

Still, there’s no denying the appeal of the “Made by Google” hardware. The Google TV Streamer is a far more attractive, thoughtfully designed device that looks great sitting out on a shelf. If aesthetics matter to you, the Streamer is the clear winner over the more utilitarian Onn box.

At its original $99 price, it was a tough sell. At its previous low of $79, it was interesting. But at a new record-low price of $74.99, the Google TV Streamer is finally in a price bracket that makes it a fantastic deal for those who want that premium Google fit and finish. As this is the best price we’ve ever seen, there’s no telling how long it will last.
