The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) annual conference is in full swing. 24,000 plus educators, innovators, and tech companies have converged in New Orleans to discover the latest and greatest education technologies and tools. Oregon-based CTL is right there in the mix and has announced some new products and services that are very unique to the Chromebook space. More on that later today. Right now, I’m here to tell you about CTL’s latest Chromebook that’s designed for educators, students, and other ChromeOS users that are looking for a larger screen and enough power to boost productivity.
CTL Chromebook PX14EXT w/touch
Building on the company’s ever-growing Chromebook résumé, CTL has officially opened pre-orders for the latest PX14 model. The CTL Chromebook PX14EXT features a 14-inch FullHD touch display, a beefy Intel® Jasper Lake Quad-Core N5100 CPU, and 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM. This is the third model in the PX14 lineup and the first to bring a touch display to the party. Like the non-touch version, the PX14EXT comes equipped with 64GB of storage, 2 x USB-C ports, a single USB-A port, and a MicroSD slot for easy file transfer and additional storage.
The PX14 family follows behind the Pentium-powered NL81 and NL81T 14-inch models that are geared towards teachers. That said, the N5100 is no slacker and the Jasper Lake CPU from Intel packs enough punch to handle the workload of teachers, students, and even employees in the workplace. We have the non-touch model here in the office and I can say that it doesn’t look or feel like your average EDU device. Most Chromebooks that are designed for schools are bulky with massive bezels and mushy keyboards.
Not the CTL PX14. The bezels are more in line with a consumer-focused device and the keyboard and trackpad are as good, if not better than models that cost hundreds of dollars more. Speaking of the price, CTL has listed the Chromebook PX14EXT at the MSRP of $499 but pre-sale orders can enjoy a whopping $100 discount. For $399, you can pick up a FullHD touchscreen Chromebook that has ample power, and a chassis that’s designed to last. Education customers can contact CTL directly for bulk discounts and hands-on deployment services. Find the CTL Chromebook PX14EXT and all of CTL’s classroom-ready devices at the link below.
