After months of rumors, leaks, and teases, Samsung has officially announced the launch event for its “Project Moohan” XR headset. In a blog post on the Samsung Newsroom, the company confirmed it will unveil the new ‘Galaxy’ device during the ‘Worlds Wide Open’ event on Monday, October 21st, at 10 p.m. ET. And for those who are ready to jump in, Samsung has already opened up reservations, offering a $100 credit to be used when you purchase.

For those of you who haven’t been following along, this isn’t just another hardware launch; it’s the debut of an entirely new platform. This headset is the first product built for Android XR, the new operating system developed by Google to compete directly with Apple’s visionOS.

Project Moohan is the groundbreaking first product built for the open and scalable Android XR platform, and it seamlessly blends everyday utility with immersive new experiences. This is where the true potential of XR comes alive, unlocking a whole new dimension of possibilities.

“Project Moohan” (the Korean word for infinity) is a goggles-style device that promises to be a true rival to the Apple Vision Pro. Samsung is teasing high-quality displays and a wide field of view for immersive experiences. The company envisions users navigating Google Maps in 3D, enjoying enhanced live sports, and leveraging Gemini for AI-powered tasks. And yes, we’re still holding out hope that “getting work done” includes some sort of Chromebook integration.

And if Samsung’s past launch events are anything to go by, this $100 credit is a pre-event-only deal. That means the offer will likely vanish the moment the livestream begins. So, if you have even a passing interest in this device, we’d highly suggest heading over to Samsung’s site and putting your name down. Based on the fine print, you’ll be able to use the credit to purchase the reserved device between 10/21/25 – 11/16/25. It’s a completely free, no-commitment reservation that only requires your name and email.
