0:33
so I showed up at the office today and
0:35
Joe had an idea for a video what's in
0:37
your bag video and honestly I hadn't
0:40
prepared for this at all we just kind of
0:42
decided to do it and instead of really
0:43
curating exactly what was in my bag and
0:46
laying it out just so we just grabbed
0:48
all the things that were in my bag real
0:50
time actually there and put them all on
0:53
the table here and the reason we're
0:54
doing this because we get a lot of
0:56
questions like what kind of stuff do you
0:57
carry around on a day-to-day basis what
0:59
kind of stuff do you actually use well
1:01
this is the stuff I actually use as I'm
1:03
out and about and as I look across all
1:05
the things on this table I can tell you
1:07
I have a specific reason why those
1:09
particular things are in my bag and I
1:11
want to share that with you all right so
1:12
I'm just gonna start on one side and
1:14
work my way over and explain what why
1:17
this stuff is even here to begin with so
1:19
we've got some random cables over here
1:21
the first one is a Y cable and if you
1:23
don't have one of these shoes you're
1:24
probably carry one around they're very
1:25
very handy basically just splits your
1:28
RCA cable audio and into a headphone
1:31
jack and this comes in handy for a
1:33
variety of purposes whether it's
1:35
recording equipment or you're trying to
1:37
get audio out from a Chromebook to like
1:38
a mixing board or something like that
1:40
I've had plenty of instances where I
1:42
need these I keep them with me all the
1:43
time and going right along with those is
1:46
basically the same thing it's just a
1:48
male to male audio adapter and so back
1:50
in the day when everything had headphone
1:52
jacks you hooked it in one side and
1:53
hooked it into the other thing and you
1:55
could playback or record the audio that
1:57
isn't as prevalent these days but it
1:59
still comes in handy again we do audio
2:01
and video recording a lot so it's nice
2:03
to have those things and somebody's like
2:04
I needed I need a cable to hook this to
2:06
this I usually am the guy that has the
2:08
cables here I've got a set of Apple
2:11
earpods
2:12
so I've also have earpods headphones are
2:15
pretty important and while we're talking
2:16
about headphones i have the bose qc25
2:19
version 2 as well the reason I carry all
2:22
three of these I like these for the most
2:25
part ear pods have been really great
2:27
they pair up with Chromebooks they pair
2:28
up with my phone my pixel phones just
2:31
fine without any latency while I'm
2:33
gaming I just there's just super
2:35
convenient it's one of those places
2:36
where Apple did something that everybody
2:38
was like I don't know if that's really
2:39
going to be a great thing turned out to
2:41
be an awesome thing and you know they
2:43
did something really cool
2:44
with these if you don't have any or you
2:45
don't like everything people away or
2:47
more stupid yeah I'm sorry about that
2:49
they are really awesome but as far as
2:51
having a really high quality sound in a
2:53
wireless headphone the bose qc25 s are
2:55
better so if I'm gonna work for a long
2:57
time and I need to be silenced and and
3:00
kept kind of in my dome and really get
3:02
something done I will go to the QC 35 s
3:05
because they just shut out all sound and
3:08
they sound amazing and they're so light
3:09
and comfortable that I can wear them for
3:11
long periods of time they're great on
3:12
airplanes as we travel and stuff like
3:15
that so I do use them in that scenario
3:17
but day to day if I'm just popping in
3:19
headphones to listen to something or
3:21
just to kind of write and you know just
3:23
have some music playing I always go to
3:24
their pods the ear pods instead though
3:26
are good whenever I have a device that
3:29
is just being wonky with Bluetooth or I
3:31
don't want to mess with parrying or
3:32
anything like that I just need to plug
3:34
something in we actually did a sound
3:35
check with this camera right before we
3:37
film this to make sure that the
3:39
headphones we were using were working
3:40
properly and it was nice to be able just
3:42
here take these plug them in use them so
3:44
these just are kind of backups and right
3:46
under those I have my handy dandy
3:48
microfiber you've seen it it's famous
3:50
it's been in all kinds of videos it is
3:52
from a rocket book and I use the Rocket
3:55
book it's an instant erasable like
3:57
notepad thing I use it from time to time
3:58
it doesn't stay in the back with me all
4:00
the time but may in the microfiber they
4:01
sent along with it to clean it is
4:03
fantastic so I keep it to use you know
4:05
clean screens clean phones all that kind
4:07
of stuff they're very handy to have so
4:09
let's chuck all that stuff out of here
4:11
okay so moving across the table the next
4:13
thing a lot of people give me flack for
4:15
this but I carry an iPad not because I
4:18
love iPads or I love Apple or iOS sort
4:20
of any of those things I actually don't
4:22
use this for productivity barely at all
4:23
I pretty much only play pub G on this
4:26
thing and for pub G the newest iPad Mini
4:29
the one with the a 12 chip in it is
4:31
amazing the screens a little bit bigger
4:33
than your phone so you can kind of see a
4:34
little bit better it's super fast
4:36
obviously because it's at a 12 Bionic
4:38
chip and it's paired in my bag at least
4:41
with bridges keyboard and you remember
4:43
bridge they make this keyboard we're
4:45
talking about in a second they make the
4:46
G type keyboard for the pixel slate and
4:48
just in general they're awesome folks
4:50
and they make awesome hardware and since
4:52
we did some review and work with them
4:54
they sent over this just kind of as a
4:55
gift and so I keep it on here to protect
4:58
screen and on the rare occasion I pulled
5:00
the iPad Mini out to get productive it's
5:02
nice to have a little keyboard hooked on
5:04
there as well
5:05
speaking of keyboards and mice this is
5:08
the bridge see tech keyboard it just
5:10
came out just started shipping we've had
5:12
it for a little while I love having the
5:14
small form factor in my bag if I ever
5:16
need to hook to a chrome box or chrome
5:18
bass or like something like a chrome bit
5:20
works whatever it's just a Bluetooth
5:22
keyboard it's made specifically for
5:24
Chrome OS so I love having it in the bag
5:26
if I have any kind of setup where I
5:27
don't want to use the keyboard on the
5:29
device I'm using I can switch to this it
5:31
feels great and it fits just right down
5:33
in my bag without taking up a lot of
5:35
room and alongside that is the surface
5:37
and mobile Mouse and it kinda almost
5:39
looks like it goes with it I kind of
5:40
bought it on purpose it looks really
5:41
nice with the slate in general I just
5:43
wanted a reliable bluetooth mouse and
5:46
until they make the C touch I think it's
5:50
what they're gonna call it the bridge
5:52
portable trackpad that's gonna be you
5:55
know made for Chrome OS when that thing
5:56
comes out that'll be the one I carry
5:58
around with me obviously but for right
6:00
now and kind of need a stopgap and
6:01
honestly sometimes I just get tired of
6:03
using a trackpad and want to move to a
6:05
mouse and so it's nice to pair this
6:06
thing up
6:07
it works obviously the way you'd expect
6:09
it to but it's super slim and it looks
6:11
really good and so it fits down in the
6:13
bag nicely and I always have it with me
6:14
if I want to bring this out and maybe
6:16
flip the Chromebook into a different
6:17
mode and and use some different input
6:19
methods while I'm at a coffee shop or
6:21
wherever working the rest of this stuff
6:22
is a little bit less interesting to be
6:24
honest with you these things I probably
6:26
should have talked about with the iPad
6:28
they are iPad triggers for pub G you
6:32
slap them on the screen and these things
6:33
conduct electricity so it gives you a
6:36
physical thing to touch for triggers on
6:38
play and pub G so as you can tell we
6:41
play a lot of pub G around here so the
6:43
rest of this stuff we start getting into
6:45
like charging cables and display
6:46
adapters so this is a USB type-c I'm
6:49
gonna set that here so we're gonna talk
6:51
about what that goes with here in just a
6:52
second it's not just a normal USB C
6:54
cable but we've got a USB C the HDMI
6:57
adapter does exactly what you'd expect
6:58
if you hook it into a USB C port you get
7:00
a nice DMI out if you need to run to a
7:02
screen it shouldn't have to explain why
7:04
that's important but things like pixel
7:06
books are pixel slates only have USB see
7:08
you need an adapter if you're out and
7:09
about you need to
7:10
to a screen you got to have that thing
7:12
with you so that stays in the bag along
7:14
with the HDMI cable that would go with
7:16
it I can't stress enough if you do
7:18
anything out and about and you might
7:19
have to present ever
7:21
put something on a screen ever or around
7:23
people that need to do that having one
7:25
of those in your bag just a standard USB
7:27
see the HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable
7:29
one of the most important things that
7:31
keep in the bag at all times obviously
7:33
my pixel book charger I think I've lost
7:36
track I think this one's the pixel book
7:38
charger maybe the slate I can't remember
7:39
but it's the USBC block that Google
7:42
provides the best thing about USB see
7:44
that's come along in a long time is the
7:46
fact that this is it this is my main
7:48
charger I carry around with me if I need
7:50
my phone to be topped off this if I need
7:51
the whatever fill in the bank blank
7:54
Chromebook that I'm using to be topped
7:56
off this pixel slate pixel book whatever
7:58
if it's USB see this thing will charge
8:00
it fast so I just have to carry around
8:02
one charger pretty much all the time
8:04
and I do have to carry around an iPad
8:06
charger because every iPad except the
8:08
pro still uses lightning and I hate that
8:10
I can't wait till they're all USBC but
8:12
for now I keep that around because
8:14
pubsey kills my battery and then a
8:16
random assortment of other cables you
8:18
know a networking cable for the rare
8:19
instance I need to actually hardline
8:21
into into I've got Chrome box into a
8:25
Wi-Fi module or something like that this
8:27
is just a standard USB see the USB a
8:29
cable those obviously come in handy if
8:31
somebody's got a charging block or
8:33
something like that you need to charge
8:34
your phone and you can plug into that
8:35
you transfer data that kind of stuff and
8:39
then it's just some random dongles this
8:41
is the USB see to audio dongle which you
8:43
need if you have a pixel slate it
8:45
doesn't have an audio headphone jack on
8:47
it for some odd reason and a lot of
8:49
phones these days don't have headphone
8:50
jacks so this is handy to use along with
8:52
those earphones I was showing you a
8:53
minute ago micro SD to SD card adapter
8:56
with a micro SD card in it again from
9:00
time to time it might need to flash an
9:03
image so that I can restore a Chromebook
9:05
I might just need to move some files
9:06
without using Google Drive
9:08
obviously these come in handy as it does
9:10
this which is the Google USB CD USB a
9:13
adapter so it's not going to do too much
9:14
different than what that cable did but I
9:16
can plug this into a device that may
9:18
just have USB C and then I can plug
9:20
whatever dongle I need in there so
9:22
whether it's like a logic
9:23
thing or another storage device or
9:26
something like that that gets you over
9:27
to USBC so it can work with your devices
9:29
and same thing here this is just a
9:31
smaller version of that same thing
9:32
because sometimes you need a couple
9:34
things lastly this is the charger for my
9:36
Fitbit people ask all the time what
9:39
watch are you wearing what watch you
9:40
wearing
9:40
it's a Fitbit Versa this is the charger
9:42
for it I've got an extra one at home
9:44
this one just stays with me so that when
9:46
we go out on the road or we're traveling
9:47
somewhere I have something to charge
9:49
this watch because it only needs to be
9:50
charged every three days or so and so if
9:53
I don't have it with me I'll just forget
9:54
and then I won't have a watch and can't
9:56
track my steps and all that kind of
9:58
stuff lastly before we get into the
9:59
stuff over here this is the whole thing
10:01
I got from Target mr7 hands it's what
10:04
it's called really strange name for a
10:05
screwdriver but it's got seven different
10:07
screwdrivers on it some some flat heads
10:09
and some Phillips head just comes in
10:11
really handy if you ever need to take
10:12
something apart or quickly grab a
10:14
screwdriver and it fits down in my bag
10:15
and just kind of the each little head
10:17
pops up and locks into place and it's a
10:20
screwdrivers and so it has come in way
10:22
more handy than I care to mention
10:23
and it got taken from me one time at the
10:25
airport because I forgot to take it out
10:27
of my bag you cannot travel on a plane
10:28
with this they will take it from you
10:30
before we get into those though one
10:32
other thing that's not in my bag right
10:34
now but is in my bag anytime we hit the
10:36
road our t-shirts from for mass apply a
10:39
matter of fact I'm wearing one right now
10:40
why it's not in the bag but we
10:42
appreciate them sponsoring us if you're
10:44
interested at all in the idea of having
10:47
fresh t-shirts delivered to your door on
10:49
a monthly or bimonthly or quarterly
10:51
basis form a supply really delivers an
10:54
awesome product and we just have enjoyed
10:57
working with them we've enjoyed their
10:58
products and we all wear these t-shirts
11:00
they're comfortable they're breathable
11:02
they look good so if you'd like to learn
11:04
more about them and how to maybe get
11:05
started getting some of those shirts in
11:07
on your doorstep just go to Chrome and
11:09
voxcom
11:10
forward slash forma that's fo RM a so
11:13
last but certainly not least in the bag
11:16
probably honestly the most important
11:18
things in my bag are this display and my
11:21
Chromebook so this display is made by
11:24
WiMAX it if you're around the channel
11:26
very often you saw us unbox this we
11:28
haven't got our full review on this
11:29
thing yet but that will be coming soon
11:31
but this thing is just an awesome
11:33
external display and Joe's actually been
11:36
using
11:36
quite a bit here lately with the Mac and
11:39
I borrow it sometimes I was testing a
11:41
chrome box and plugged it into the
11:43
chrome box and set and just used it at
11:44
the table it's nice to have with me when
11:47
I'm out especially when I'm doing web
11:49
development so it's nice to have stuff
11:51
in a separate window a lot of times I
11:53
don't need a second display but when I'm
11:54
doing that kind of work I really really
11:56
need that second display and this one is
11:57
just so simple to set up they fix the
12:00
issues with the case and so it just kind
12:01
of sets up nicely like this one cable
12:03
hooks it right up to your Chromebook
12:05
extended display it's a bright vibrant
12:07
1080p display fantastic thing here and
12:11
and though we're not doing a bunch of
12:13
like oh this is sponsored make sure and
12:15
check the links below I'm gonna I'm
12:16
gonna link all of the stuff that I can
12:18
find at least on Amazon but this one
12:20
specifically since they sent this over
12:22
to us for review it will be down there
12:24
and you can buy this thing right now
12:25
from Amazon and if you're looking for a
12:27
second display I this has been my
12:29
favorite one I've ever used to have had
12:30
a few of them and this one has just been
12:32
great it looks great oh and it's a touch
12:34
screen by the way too and built of metal
12:36
I just have a lot of great things to say
12:38
about it really enjoy this particular
12:40
thing and so lastly we get to this
12:42
Tarkus case which does not fit this
12:44
Chromebook but it's been a great case
12:45
I've had lots of Chromebooks in and out
12:47
of this case but right now what's in my
12:49
bag is the EC 434 and a lot of you would
12:55
probably expect to see the pixel book
12:56
instead for right now this has been
13:00
what's been in my bag and it's been
13:01
dominating my time with using
13:03
Chromebooks in general I I don't know
13:06
there's something really cool about it I
13:07
love the the almost bezel list display
13:10
the display looks great the build of it
13:12
feels good
13:13
I like the keyboard still not like over
13:16
the moon about the trackpad in general
13:17
but it's good enough that it doesn't
13:19
really get in the way or bother me and
13:21
all the other pieces of it having a 14
13:23
inch display gives me a little more work
13:24
space and battery life has been great
13:26
just like we talked about in their
13:27
review and just overall it is easily one
13:29
of my favorite Chromebooks and might
13:32
possibly earn its spot as my daily
13:34
driver and if you've been around the
13:36
channel that long at all you realize
13:37
that's not an easy spot to take from the
13:40
pixel book almost everything well
13:42
everything that comes up against it
13:43
since I've had my pixel book always ends
13:45
up losing I always end up going back to
13:47
the pixel book and I don't want to put
13:49
myself on a hook
13:50
go back to the pixel book - but I'm
13:51
telling you this thing has become a
13:52
contender for me more than any other
13:54
Chromebook has for that coveted spot in
13:57
my backpack and so speaking of the
13:59
backpack we can't not talk about this
14:01
thing because if Jo would tell you Gabe
14:04
would tell you anyone who knows me tell
14:05
you this thing is like near and dear to
14:07
my heart like it's like part of me at
14:09
this point from looking at it it looks
14:11
like I may have owned it for six months
14:12
or something I think I've had this thing
14:14
for four or five years I believe every
14:18
day I carry this thing every day it's in
14:20
and out of my trunk it's in and out of
14:22
the backseat of my car
14:23
it's plopped down in tables and chairs
14:26
and offices and couches everywhere this
14:29
thing goes with me nearly everywhere I
14:31
mean even if I go somewhere for the
14:32
weekend it goes with me because it's
14:34
kind of my stuff in it you know if I
14:35
need to do something it carries
14:37
everything and it's always with me and
14:39
it barely looks like I've used it like
14:41
people would probably think I'm lying
14:43
about it
14:44
and we're just big fans of tule in
14:46
general and and big fans of their
14:49
product they do have a new version of
14:50
this bag but I don't know this is just
14:53
one of those things like I haven't worn
14:54
it out enough maybe like in five more
14:56
years so he'll be ready to upgrade I
14:58
said there's nothing ripping they're
14:59
just they're amazing amazing bags
15:01
obviously we'll throw a link in the
15:03
description for those too and again we
15:07
don't want any of this video to come off
15:08
like we're trying to sell you a bunch of
15:10
stuff because honestly we're not we just
15:11
decided to make this because it seems
15:13
like people are interested in they're
15:14
asking and in general the reason we went
15:17
through and talked about all of the
15:18
