Today we are really excited to bring you and unboxing and hands-on of the Viglen Chromebook 360! While the name Viglen is lesser-known here in the US, their 30-year presence in the UK puts them in the unique position of being 1 of only 2 IT hardware manufacturers based in the UK.
Today we have their latest EDU-focused Chromebook in the office and we get a good, close-up look at it in the unboxing.

hey folks Robbie paying with chroma and
0:02
box coming at you today with an
0:04
exclusive unboxing of the biglan
0:06
chromebook 360 this device joins us from
0:08
all the way over in the UK and we are
0:10
very excited to be the first to get our
0:12
hands on it and to get it unboxed on
0:14
camera so without any further ado let's
0:16
get started alright so I've gone ahead
0:24
and cut some of the pieces of the Box
0:25
open so you get open buddies and I set
0:28
the out of the way there for a second
0:30
and we have charging stuff as usual and
0:38
it looks like the one coming packaged
0:40
here as a suddenly beginning this is a
0:41
UK exclusive so got the UK style charger
0:44
here and they were nice enough to give
0:47
us a u.s. charger as well so let's get
0:50
the box out of the way check this guy
0:51
out
0:53
alright so we got an all-black
0:55
chassis not the thinnest device ever but
1:00
again it's an education device and one
1:03
of the goals of this device is to be
1:05
able to withstand drops and those kinds
1:08
of things so a little more heft is
1:10
pretty normal over here on this side
1:12
we've got three USB 3.0 ports and that's
1:15
a really nice addition normally we only
1:17
see two and one of them's three one of
1:19
them's too so that's pretty nice side
1:21
mounted power button across the back
1:24
just the hinges we'll talk about how
1:25
sturdy those are full-sized HDMI slot
1:27
micro sd combo headphone microphone and
1:31
then the power couple screws pop out
1:33
right there and right there
1:34
whole battery comes out a replaceable
1:36
one can go in so being that this is
1:39
again aimed at the education sector
1:40
that's a pretty huge feature there it
1:44
makes it simpler as batteries tend to
1:46
wear down quicker than most other pieces
1:48
of the hardware thing to swap out a
1:50
battery pretty quickly and be going
1:52
again with this device it feels solid
1:54
like a tank it is heavy I'm not going to
1:58
act like this is some light machine it's
2:00
it's pretty heavy but again the goal
2:03
here is to have dust resistance of water
2:05
resistance and to be able to be dropped
2:07
from about a meter without any wear and
2:10
tear or sustainable damage
2:12
so let's open this guy up truck guy has
2:15
got a slight bit of texture to it and
2:18
honestly when whether or not glass which
2:20
systems not in education and and more
2:25
affordable Chromebooks usually you don't
2:27
get a glass trackpad this one is plastic
2:30
I kind of enjoy the slight texture
2:31
because untextured plastics it tends to
2:34
pick up tons of fingerprints and this
2:35
doesn't seem to be doing that right off
2:37
the pad
2:37
click feels great we've seen some some
2:41
devices come in in the last few months
2:43
where the trackpad out of the box felt
2:44
kind of janky and wobbly this one does
2:47
not actually feels great the the travel
2:49
on it's really good it's really wide
2:51
wider than my entire hand so that's
2:53
pretty good should be easy to do all
2:55
those multi-point gestures keyboard
2:59
feels really good to roll it's it's
3:01
shallow travel as most keyboards are on
3:03
laptops but kind of clicky it feels
3:06
really good and open this up it's kind
3:09
of got a two-stage hinge so the first
3:11
stage kind of does that number and then
3:13
as it bends around it feels pretty good
3:17
and so that's gonna allow you to get the
3:21
stand mode the tent mode tablet mode all
3:30
those kind of things as always a glass
3:32
screen it's picking up fingerprints I
3:34
don't think there's any way around it
3:36
we're gonna run a quick octane test 11.6
3:40
inch 1366 by 768 which is plenty of
3:43
pixels for this size of screen but the
3:45
viewing angles are actually quite good
3:47
so as I can kind of bend it forward you
3:48
can see there's some reflection like I
3:50
said I've got the brightness turned down
3:52
so we don't blow the camera out but
3:54
viewing angles on every angle are pretty
3:56
good and the brass wa has bumped up to
3:59
almost 9,000 so that should end up being
4:02
a lot more usable if you all remember
4:04
back when I reviewed the Acer Chromebook
4:06
14 there were some significant struggles
4:08
with that processor and over time it
4:11
just became kind of frustrating to use
4:13
trackpad is doing really well
4:16
multi-finger gestures registered just
4:18
fine scrolling is nice and smooth as you
4:21
can see here is it scrolling through
4:22
youtubes page no issues whatsoever there
4:25
three fingers
4:26
Queen tabs everything's nice and smooth
4:28
and I've messed with it a little bit as
4:30
a cut away from the camera and we're not
4:33
picking up any fingerprints on here so
4:35
especially for a device that is pointed
4:38
towards education use obviously not
4:43
picking up smudges and junk on your
4:45
trackpad is a pretty big deal so there
4:49
we go
4:49
first vevo and I came across pretty
5:06
clear for downward firing seems like the
5:10
sounds kind of coming out from the table
5:12
a little bit which is good not a whole
5:16
lot of difference as we tilt it it does
5:25
a good job to does a good job too as
5:27
soon as you flip it into tablet mode as
5:29
well not too shabby
5:31
go full tablet see how the rotation
5:34
works just fine so a little pinch to
5:37
zoom nice and smooth so yeah not too bad
5:40
at all this device should fall in line
5:44
with devices that will at some point in
5:46
the future receive Android apps as well
5:49
so that would be another benefit for
5:51
students and teachers alike to get a
5:54
device with this good of a screen the
5:56
convertible form factor a pretty good
5:58
keyboard feels pretty comfortable what
6:01
feels like a really good track bet at
6:02
this point decent speakers spill
6:04
resistance four gigs of ram 32 gigs of
6:06
internal storage a replaceable battery
6:08
there's a lot of good stuff going on
6:10
with this device and so you can color me
6:13
impressed off the bat so again we'll get
6:16
a review put together and a week or two
6:18
and let you guys know how it fared in
6:19
day-to-day use until then keep it locked
6:21
on the channel if you haven't yet
6:22
subscribed below give this video a
6:25
thumbs up we want to thank our friends
6:27
over at biglan for getting this device
6:29
to us and again keep it locked here
6:32
we'll have a review of this and so many
6:34
more devices coming up soon and until
6:37
then guys have a good one
