all right guys this is Robbie Payne with
0:03
chrome unbox we are going Live on
0:05
YouTube for the first time I've got the
0:07
notification I don't know sometime last
0:09
week and decided uh whenever it was time
0:11
for us to go and pick up our Samsung
0:13
Chromebook plus we did a review of the
0:15
pro you can check that out on the
0:17
YouTube channel and or the website
0:18
chromabox.com
0:20
we figured hey when we come out to Best
0:22
Buy to pick up our Chromebook plus that
0:26
we had ordered uh we figured we would
0:28
get that unboxing and all that kind of
0:30
stuff uh live for you guys to check out
0:33
and so
0:34
um it'll be interesting we're gonna have
0:35
to work our way through this we haven't
0:37
really used uh live very much and so
0:39
what we want to attempt to do here in
0:42
just a little bit we wanted to do this
0:43
video out first
0:45
um so that some of you guys could see it
0:47
and go hey they're going to be live and
0:49
then as we do our unboxing we're going
0:51
to do it live and so we'll take some
0:53
some basic questions
0:55
Sammy said shame on you I'm at work uh
0:58
technically kind of should be too but
0:59
luckily my my job is uh flexible enough
1:02
I can run out and do stuff like this
1:04
real quick so
1:05
um Best Buy doesn't open for another 10
1:07
minutes or so
1:08
so like I said we wanted to do a quick
1:10
run and get the first live video out
1:13
there I make sure that it was working
1:15
and everything was going to go smoothly
1:16
enough so we don't want to have an
1:18
unboxing video out there that is broken
1:20
and janky and I know early on with
1:22
Facebook
1:24
some of the the live stuff was not so
1:26
great so obviously back at the office
1:28
we'll be on Wi-Fi and stuff this is
1:30
going over LTE so I'm hoping it looks
1:32
pretty good
1:33
um
1:35
yeah I'm not seeing any other comments
1:36
right now that I need to answer so real
1:38
quickly
1:39
um I've got just a couple minutes
1:41
um I will feel it looks like we've got
1:43
about 70 people watching field any
1:45
questions you guys might have about the
1:47
Samsung Chromebook Pro and or plus
1:50
um and I can answer what I know at this
1:53
point right now
1:54
test battery life absolutely I think
1:57
between the pro and plus that's going to
1:59
be a differentiator is battery life and
2:02
so hopefully we're going to see much
2:03
better not that it was bad on the pro
2:05
but we'll see much better battery life
2:06
on the on the plus with its arm chip
2:09
video nice and clear that's exciting
2:12
because again I'm on LTE with T-Mobile
2:14
so that's awesome
2:16
Chromebook plus coming to Canada I'm not
2:18
sure at this point I imagine eventually
2:20
yes Samsung does reach up into Canada
2:23
with their General products let's see
2:27
Pro Plus flip two that video is actually
2:30
being edited right now so yes that video
2:32
will be up very soon we're excited to
2:35
share that one with you guys
2:37
um when is the Chromebook Pro coming out
2:39
official officially Samsung is saying
2:40
end of April for the Chromebook Pro uh
2:44
we'll probably do a quick article on
2:45
that just so that's a a public-facing
2:47
thing
2:49
not shipping to Europe yeah that is a
2:51
bummer for right now I'm hoping that
2:53
Samsung Google get their their stuff uh
2:56
figured out so that you guys over in
2:58
Europe can get your hands on these
3:00
devices because they are nice octane 2.0
3:02
last we ran it on the plus it was right
3:05
around ten thousand so it's probably
3:07
going to be in that range likely Crouton
3:09
work for the plus yes likely
3:11
um Crouton will work probably for the
3:13
plus
3:15
um it is an arm chip obviously but other
3:18
arm chips have worked with Crouton
3:20
they're going to be a handful of apps
3:21
here and there that won't work uh
3:23
because they're just not compiled to
3:25
work on arms so I can't say that your
3:26
favorite thing that you would run in
3:27
croutons would work uh it may or may not
3:29
so let's see what else we've got hope
3:32
you pre-ordered yes I did actually
3:35
um I had pre-ordered from Amazon and
3:37
they basically said it they weren't sure
3:40
when it was going to be available so I
3:42
canceled that order real quick and
3:44
checked with our local Best Buy and they
3:46
had a few in stock so I went and ordered
3:48
it last night so that it would be here
3:49
for me today uh let's see
3:53
yes the pro is going to have a black
3:55
finish and at this point I don't think
3:57
there's actually going to be a silver
3:59
version of the pro these review units I
4:03
think they likely use the plus Hardware
4:05
the outer hardware and just put the pro
4:08
internals inside so yeah it's gonna have
4:10
a black finish personally I hope it
4:12
looks better than the Press renders that
4:14
we got and we shared on the site I'm not
4:17
really a fan of the way it looks uh will
4:19
it come to Germany I am not sure yet
4:21
again on the flip 2 versus Chromebook
4:24
Pro that video is in the process of
4:27
being edited right now by Joe and we
4:29
will have it live and posted within a
4:33
few days
4:34
Pro or flip if you've watched the
4:37
Chromebook Pro review
4:39
I kind of answered that and and the
4:41
reasons why but in general the
4:46
the Chromebook Pro slash plus I'm
4:49
assuming once we get our hands on it
4:50
here in a few
4:51
just has a particular
4:54
um
4:56
aesthetic quality to it that I enjoyed a
4:59
whole lot and so I choose to use it more
5:01
than I do the the the
5:03
flip that is sitting right next to me
5:05
and so
5:07
um
5:07
it's not necessarily because it's faster
5:09
or better the screen is exceptional and
5:12
so maybe that's part of it uh let's see
5:14
can you use Snapchat uh yes I've not had
5:17
any issue running Snapchat
5:19
um on devices that have
5:23
on devices that have the Play Store
5:25
and looks like Joe is joining me hello
5:28
hello
5:30
all right can you test screen brightness
5:31
I will I can tell you that screen
5:33
brightness is right around 400 nits on
5:35
both C plus and the pro from Samsung
5:37
crazy bright crazy bright literally in
5:40
direct sunlight it's fine
5:42
um 8 gig 128 yeah I don't see
5:46
I don't see they're coming out with
5:47
anything like that it looks like they're
5:48
going to hold on 32 gigs and uh four
5:52
gigs of RAM for the foreseeable future
5:55
wait for the pro get the Plus
5:58
man that's tough and until honestly I
6:01
get to actually use this plus here in a
6:03
daily kind of fashion
6:05
I would say
6:07
I can't say just yet on that because
6:11
I don't know
6:13
um on day-to-day usage using it as a
6:15
Chromebook how how it's going to fare
6:16
from what I've seen online thus far
6:19
um it seems like it's it possibly runs
6:21
Android apps a little better than the
6:23
pro at this point because of the way
6:24
Intel and arm chips work and so
6:26
interesting we're watching people not be
6:29
able to get into Best Buy
6:31
laughs
6:33
yeah that's funny okay sorry let's see
6:36
what would you recommend in Florida
6:41
yeah some of the uh from Diego montiero
6:46
uh probably just butchered your name I'm
6:47
sorry uh Android app performance on the
6:50
pro really that bad not as bad as what
6:52
Dieter bone showed on the verge I ran
6:54
some of the same apps and while they
6:56
weren't perfect they were nowhere near
6:58
as bad as he was getting so I'm not sure
7:00
what was going on with his with his
7:01
review unit
7:03
um but Intel chips in general some of
7:05
the Android apps just aren't compiled
7:07
well for x86 sometimes
7:11
um yes the really looking forward to see
7:14
if the plus is worth getting or waiting
7:15
on the pro I'm very interested to see
7:17
that as well so I can share with all of
7:19
you all if you should go ahead and jump
7:21
on the on the plus saving under dollars
7:23
is awesome the arm chip likely is going
7:26
to have better battery life and it
7:27
probably will have better accessibility
7:29
to Android apps in the future for a
7:31
little while is there a silver Pro
7:34
um not likely it looks like just the one
7:36
that we got was again
7:39
free production Hardware Chromebook flip
7:42
Chromebook Pro we keep seeing that again
7:44
I'm going to keep reiterating that for
7:45
new people that are coming in we have a
7:47
video that's being worked on right now
7:50
it'll be to you shortly so we're going
7:52
to put both of those head to head and
7:53
let you know
7:54
uh eight gig version really going to be
7:57
a reality I don't think so uh 8 gig
7:59
version of the flip yes
8:01
um 8 gig version of this one I just
8:04
don't know
8:05
um we did post a story about that that
8:07
they have it enabled and they're testing
8:10
it
8:11
um I just don't know if they're going to
8:12
put it out or not
8:14
uh
8:16
watching someone doing a bad decision
8:18
all right
8:20
[Music]
8:21
I love live stuff this is great am I a
8:23
Christian yes I am a Christian
8:25
please change position him over so we
8:27
can see better from brother I'm trying
8:28
let me try this again
8:31
yeah when I rotate it it gives me a lock
8:34
and it says rotate device
8:37
I'm not sure it's not liking the fact
8:40
that I'm trying to go landscape so I'm
8:41
gonna have to check my settings on that
8:42
and see if there's a way to enable that
8:44
I'm not sure
8:46
open sign is on
8:48
all right what's your take on the
8:50
extremely low octane score 10 000 octane
8:52
is not that bad Acer r13 is a good
8:55
indicator of that it'll be interesting
8:57
to see this device with so many pixels
9:00
on the screen with a 10 000 octane score
9:02
how it fares so I I don't know and guys
9:05
uh it is 10 o'clock so Best Buy is open
9:08
I've got other stuff I've got to do for
9:09
work that I have to get back for so I
9:12
need to get in here and get this guy and
9:13
then we are going to actually unbox it
9:15
using this same thing because this has
9:17
been really fun so
9:19
um Black version of the pro
9:22
yeah so some of these things battery
9:23
life uh we'll know sooner than later
9:27
which Chromebook has upgradable Ram
9:29
almost none of them you got to go all
9:32
the way back to Acer's first small
9:34
Chromebook
9:35
all right guys uh thanks for all the
9:37
questions the chats we're going to do
9:38
this way more often because this has
9:40
been really cool and really fun
9:42
um we're glad to see that it works
9:43
really well on LTE because we'll be able
9:45
to do this stuff out and about sometimes
9:47
um but until next time it's been 10
9:49
minutes so thanks for hanging with us
9:51
we're going to get this device get it
9:53
unboxed via this same format so we'll
9:55
share it out and be looking for that
9:57
later on today see you guys
