Google is giving college students a full year of Google AI Pro for free

With the fall semester kicking off, Google is rolling out one of the most generous student promotions we’ve seen to date, offering eligible college students in the U.S. a full year of Google AI Pro completely free of charge. New study tools rolling out across Gemini

Alongside the free subscription offers, Google is deploying several major feature updates to the Gemini app designed specifically for academic workflows:

Dedicated Student Hub: Google has launched a centralized portal at gemini.google.com/students. The hub acts as a command center where students can quickly launch study notebooks, generate flashcards, take diagnostic quizzes, and track their study milestones.

Upgraded Study Notebooks & Syllabus Sync: Originally launched earlier this summer, Study Notebooks allow you to upload class materials, lecture slides, and notes to create tailored study guides.

• Gemini breaks down topics and provides diagnostic quizzes to pinpoint your specific knowledge gaps.
• Syllabus to Google Calendar: You can now upload your course syllabus, and Gemini will automatically schedule exam dates and assignment deadlines straight into your Google Calendar (with your permission).
• Visual elements like dynamic charts and diagrams will also begin appearing in study notebook lessons over the coming weeks.

Interactive 3D Visualizations: For visual learners, Gemini can now generate functional, interactive 3D simulations directly inside chat responses. You can ask Gemini to “show me how DNA works in 3D” to rotate and zoom into molecular structures, watch physics pendulums exchange kinetic and potential energy, or manipulate financial cash-burn tables.

Deep Research Comes to Gemini Live: One of the most practical upgrades is the integration of Deep Research into Gemini Live. You can now ask Gemini during a live voice conversation to research a complex topic. Gemini will run the comprehensive, multi-step report asynchronously in the background while you lock your phone or chat about other tasks. Once you receive a notification that your report is finished, you can jump back into Gemini Live and talk through the findings hands-free.

How to claim the offer

College students can claim their free 12-month offer starting today through December 31, 2026. A valid payment method and student verification via SheerID are required at sign-up. The plan can be canceled at any time; otherwise, it will automatically renew at the standard monthly rate once the 12-month promotional period concludes.
