0:07
hey folks are we paying with chrome
0:09
unboxed and today we're very excited to
0:12
bring you some footage a new app on
0:15
Android that's actually now up and
0:17
running and the first thing we've tried
0:18
it on is the pixel book we're actually
0:19
trying to get it installed in the
0:21
background on the Chromebook plus as
0:23
well but it's an app that has taking the
0:25
gaming world by storm especially on
0:27
mobile it is none other than pub G and
0:30
so a new update rolled out today 0.5
0:32
added a new map it added some different
0:35
changes to the arcade style of the game
0:38
and it's just one of those games that
0:39
around the office and most people I know
0:41
play on their phone and so we're excited
0:44
to to show you that it actually is up
0:47
and running working on the pixel book
0:48
every time they update this game it's
0:50
the first thing that I do I go and check
0:52
and I'd open up pub G to see if it'll
0:55
open and normally we would see this it
0:57
would go to a black screen and then we
0:59
would get nothing but much to my
1:01
surprise and excitement today with the
1:03
0.5 update I figured hey we'll give it a
1:06
try and I saw this and I knew we were
1:08
probably in business and as a matter of
1:10
fact it's all working so the latest
1:12
update with all the latest cool stuff
1:14
sign in with your Facebook profile it
1:16
runs exactly like you would on your
1:17
phone cuz it's an Android app after all
1:19
so it does exactly what it's a post
1:21
student it looks like they've added in
1:22
0.5 yes auto log-in great because used
1:26
to get hit Facebook every single time
1:28
but everything's here so all the stuff
1:30
that I've played earlier today so
1:31
missions and all that kind of stuff all
1:33
my stats are here with that facebook
1:35
login so you won't miss a beat if you
1:37
pick it up on here a couple things want
1:39
to point out we're going to show you
1:39
just a little bit of gameplay this is
1:42
just now showing up on Chromebooks and
1:44
my guess is because most Chromebooks are
1:47
low power they've kind of restricted
1:48
some of this stuff until they work it
1:50
out probably for the different
1:51
processors and the different Intel
1:52
processors specifically because it has
1:54
worked on ARM processors this whole time
1:56
but it's the Intel processors that have
1:58
been an issue if we go to graphics and I
2:01
try to go to HD it says it's available
2:03
on this device soon so we all know that
2:05
the core i5 in here is more than capable
2:08
of handling some 3d graphics but for
2:11
right now
2:12
you can do smooth or balanced and since
2:14
it's gonna be kind of lower quality you
2:16
might as well go with smooth frame rate
2:18
is low medium you don't get the high
2:19
option you do get the color options and
2:22
you can disable or enable the auto
2:23
adjust on graphics and so will go ahead
2:27
and enable that and hit okay but other
2:30
than that all your controls and
2:31
everything of the exact same things you
2:32
can customize them to your liking all
2:35
the settings are the same I did find out
2:37
the gyroscopes on here I use it on my
2:38
phone to kind of fine tune my aiming was
2:41
wonky on here it was like the axes were
2:43
switched or something so there's clearly
2:45
some work to be done but the game is
2:47
running so let's jump in real quick
2:48
we'll just do an arcade real fast they
2:50
have this new thing I don't even know
2:51
what this is yet but it looks like quick
2:54
match or sniper training
2:56
let's do quick match see if it limits it
3:00
to that so I think with the sniper
3:01
training it actually opens the map up
3:04
quite a bit so you have some time to
3:05
grab your stuff and actually try to work
3:07
on some sniping stuff versus the other
3:10
one is the the normal seven eight-minute
3:11
match where they trop everybody to a
3:13
really tiny circle this this expands
3:15
that circle out just a little bit but if
3:18
you're familiar with this game none of
3:19
this stuff is new to you we're gonna
3:20
load in on a screen real quick and we'll
3:23
get the game going so you can see I mean
3:27
textures are a little muddy in the
3:28
background but you know everything runs
3:31
pretty smooth I've played a couple
3:33
matches already and while this isn't as
3:36
easy to pick up and play as it is on my
3:38
phone because on my phones just in my
3:40
pocket pop it out slap some earphones in
3:42
and go it's really cool just that it's
3:45
gonna be available on this especially
3:46
with some detachable is coming out we
3:50
know that there's a qualcomm device
3:51
coming out soon so you know just some of
3:54
these new Chromebooks and different form
3:55
factors games like this are gonna be big
3:58
sellers for Chromebooks some of you I'm
4:01
sure hoops I just hit that so this I'm
4:03
playing this at an angle so I'm probably
4:04
gonna suck real bad we needed to get the
4:08
glare off the screen so that's just kind
4:09
of part of it but some of you are gonna
4:11
ask about keyboard support and I'm sure
4:12
it was my first question just as it has
4:16
from the get-go keyboard supports there
4:19
it's just not fully supported so a sdw
4:23
will move you
4:24
you left right up and down and I'm
4:28
floating around heck I can show you that
4:32
so I can actually see I'm controlling
4:35
this with the keyboard here but the
4:37
mouse isn't isn't locked on to anything
4:39
so I actually get a mouse pointer now if
4:41
I clicked down I can control but that
4:44
doesn't really help me as far as
4:45
shooting goes so see how mouse controls
4:49
at this point probably not something
4:50
you're going to use I wouldn't think
4:53
but hopefully that means maybe they'll
4:55
think about it and you can do two finger
4:58
scroll it looks okay so if you use two
5:01
fingers actually okay shall we get back
5:03
but nothing's locked if to shoot so
5:07
there's a jump button so I'm figuring
5:10
this out as I go - it'd be cool if there
5:11
was a just a shoot button we'd be in
5:13
good shape
5:18
okay I'll go with that
5:19
so now I can't look around okay so two
5:23
finger scroll does yeah it's it's this
5:27
isn't really working so you're probably
5:28
going to want to play with on-screen
5:29
controls for right now but again this is
5:33
clearly a work in progress this the chip
5:36
inside this thing is very well suited
5:38
for graphics and you can definitely do
5:40
more than this is doing right now
5:42
because this is super simplistic and and
5:46
all the the textures kind of looked land
5:48
and all that kind of stuff but frame
5:50
rates are running and we're not getting
5:51
a black screen so that's a huge benefit
5:54
if I'm trying to talk while doing this
5:55
I'm gonna get killed anyway so I'm just
5:57
gonna keep running around just to show
5:58
you hey look Pub G working on a pixel
6:01
book so let's switch over and see if we
6:03
can make it work on the Samsung real
6:05
quick
6:10
is still alive
6:15
solid plugg be over here playing pub G
6:18
over here with no weapons no gun baby
6:22
hashtag no Vince I'm going for a second
6:25
Oh No ah I see
6:35
third place baby no guns alright so now
6:41
we're loading this thing up on yeah on
6:44
the Samsung Chromebook pro so for those
6:48
of you who have forgotten this one is
6:49
the skylake so 6 gen core m3 with 4 gigs
6:54
of ram so hurt 7th gen I 5 over there
6:57
the graphics are set to low on this one
6:59
too but just fine honestly
7:04
where all the people are and if they're
7:07
loading in slow or something where is
7:10
everybody I had to go guest count on
7:13
this one so that's all I'm a naked dude
7:14
no hear that ok so it seems like maybe
7:17
the load-in is gonna be a little bit
7:19
slower on this versus versus the pixel
7:21
book got some flickering of a guy out
7:23
here
7:30
but we're decently responsive and
7:31
honestly ultimately that's really all I
7:34
wanted to show you the game runs on here
7:36
too so it's not just the pixel book this
7:38
is another different generation Intel
7:40
Chromebook but same way the graphics
7:43
have been limited even though it could
7:44
probably handle more if it were allowed
7:47
to and honestly all that comes down to
7:49
optimization so they just got this thing
7:51
out the door I would probably assume in
7:53
the next update or so will actually see
7:55
an optimized version for Intel chips and
7:57
that can take full advantage of the
7:58
graphics and the full CPU in these
8:01
devices but this is a huge step forward
8:03
guys seeing seeing games like this
8:05
popular games coming to Chromebooks
8:07
where there were glaring problems that
8:09
made the game not work now they're
8:11
working so these are these are big steps
8:13
in the right direction and it's just an
8:15
exciting time with with Chromebooks in
8:18
general just knowing that this kind of
8:19
stuff is coming after i/o seeing all the
8:21
the work that's being put into the
8:23
Chrome OS emulator for Android studio
8:25
just there's so many things happening
8:26
that are exciting in this space and
8:28
we're just glad to be able to be here
