The Lenovo Flex 11 Chromebook may very well be one of the most underrated devices of 2017. I've had some extensive hands-on time with the rugged convertible and in that time it has proven itself by performing just as well as Chromebooks at twice the price.

hey guys Gabriel crowman BOTS coming at
0:10
you today with the review of the Lenovo
0:11
flex 11 Chromebook this is 11.6 inch
0:14
ruggedized device is powered by the
0:16
media tech Mt
0:23
this device was just updated with
0:25
Android apps and now we're going to take
0:27
a closer look at how it's performing so
0:29
let's go the lenovo flex 11 chromebook
0:31
may very well be one of the most
0:33
underrated devices of 2017 i've had some
0:36
extensive hands-on time with the rugged
0:37
convertible and in that time it has
0:39
proven itself by performing just as well
0:41
as Chromebooks at twice the price if
0:43
you're thinking the Flex 11 looks
0:45
familiar you are correct this is a
0:47
consumer version of the lenovo in 23
0:49
yoga chromebook robbie unbox back in
0:51
april apart from the silver keyboard
0:53
deck and charcoal body these devices are
0:56
identical
0:57
let's take a look at what the lenovo
0:58
flex 11 has to offer for 279 despite the
1:01
fact that the Flex 11 is aimed at the
1:03
consumer market the 11.6 inch Chromebook
1:05
touts the same rugged features as its
1:07
edu counterpart the N 23 yoga its design
1:11
is very unassuming with a slight taper
1:12
towards the front of the device and a
1:14
weight of just under three pounds you
1:16
almost forget it's a reinforced
1:18
Chromebook designed to take a beating
1:19
the body of the Flex feels solid in
1:22
comparison to some other models we've
1:24
recently reviewed the chassis and
1:26
display are both wrapped with a
1:27
protective rubber bumper and there's
1:29
little to no flexing or bending present
1:31
when the device is put under stress the
1:33
Flex 11 also features spill resistant
1:35
keyboard that is capable of channeling
1:37
up to a cup of liquid away from
1:39
sensitive components all in all the
1:41
build quality of the lenovo is spot-on
1:43
it feels durable and looks great while
1:46
avoiding the clunkiness you'd expect
1:47
from a rugged computer the ports are
1:50
another area that lenovo really nailed
1:52
it on this device USBC may eventually
1:54
become the standard but the fact is the
1:57
average user still possesses a majority
1:58
of devices that use USB 3.0 as well as
2:01
HDMI lenovo covered all the bases the
2:05
flex 11 offers one each of USB 3.0 USB C
2:09
and a full size HDMI in my opinion that
2:12
strikes the perfect balance
2:13
the device that calls less than $300 you
2:16
also get a full-size SD card slot which
2:18
is becoming a rarity for many Chromebook
2:20
makers aside from that you get your
2:22
standard Kensington lock and a 3.5
2:24
millimeter headphone jack the screen on
2:27
the Flex 11 is about as good as you'd
2:28
expect them on a 11.6 inch device at
2:32
around 213 it's it's not the brightest
2:34
on the market but at the same time I
2:36
never found myself bothered by it the
2:38
viewing angles are very good and Lenovo
2:40
did a decent job of keeping the bezels
2:42
under control
2:43
the colors produced by the display are
2:45
very clear and very vibrant when sitting
2:47
next to my Acer R 11 the only time the
2:50
1366 by 768 display on my Lenovo really
2:54
seemed lacking was with bright white
2:55
backgrounds that appeared a bit washed
2:57
out next to brighter displays when it
3:00
comes to keyboards and trackpad lenovo
3:02
has always impressed me with their
3:04
hardware and the Flex 11 was no
3:05
exception the keyboard has a very
3:07
comfortable amount of travel and just
3:09
feels good to type on it could be a
3:11
little click here for my taste but the
3:13
responsiveness of the keys is impressive
3:15
so no complaints here on the keyboard
3:16
the trackpad on the Flex 11 is
3:19
exceptional compared to most Bend range
3:20
Chromebooks we've seen an epidemic of
3:22
floppy anemic and even unusable track
3:25
pads on a number of devices lately but
3:27
new lenovo avoided this pitfall
3:28
completely the trackpad is very wide
3:31
even for my large hands and the click is
3:33
tight and consistent from left to right
3:34
overall it's one of the better touch
3:36
pads I've used this year inside the Flex
3:39
11 you find the media tech Mt
3:46
13 it's only the second device on the
3:49
market to use this chipset the are 13
3:51
announced almost a year ago was met with
3:53
mixed reviews and caught additional
3:55
criticism as Play Store support was
3:57
delayed until just last month for this
4:00
reason I was a tad apprehensive about
4:02
how the little lenovo would perform the
4:05
mediatek processor is paired with 4 gigs
4:07
of ram 32 gigs of storage which is
4:09
pretty standard fare for Chromebooks in
4:10
this range after using the Acer
4:12
Chromebook 14 for some time I really
4:14
expected a similar experience but I was
4:17
proven pleasantly wrong first the media
4:19
tech chip can do something none of my
4:21
Braswell devices will ever
4:23
a couple of months back I picked up a
4:25
little novo qHD monitor for my desk and
4:27
quickly found that my Acer Chromebook 14
4:29
didn't have support to handle the pixel
4:31
dense display the newer mediatek
4:34
processor can push the monitor and does
4:36
so without breaking a sweat
4:37
I used the Flex 11 as my daily driver
4:40
for an extended amount of time and not
4:42
once did I find myself needing something
4:43
more powerful for normal daily tasks it
4:46
was so simple to come to the office plug
4:48
in the HDMI close the lid and get to
4:50
work
4:51
that one thing makes the Flex 11 more
4:54
versatile and capable than pretty much
4:56
every last generation budget chromebook
4:58
available regardless the cost
5:00
performance wise the Flex 11 handles
5:03
itself very well don't get me wrong this
5:05
isn't a device that's going to go
5:06
toe-to-toe with a core M processor but
5:09
benchmarks pores put it somewhere in the
5:11
range of 30 to 40 percent better than
5:13
Braswell devices that's a huge leap for
5:15
a relatively inexpensive arm powered
5:17
Chromebook well in oboe flex 11 recently
5:20
acquired Android apps in the stable
5:22
channel and so far it's running them
5:23
like a champ playing games like modern
5:26
combat 5 or a breeze provides you don't
5:28
push the settings to the max for casual
5:30
users wanting a good Android experience
5:32
I think the mediatek processor is
5:34
finally coming into its own browsing
5:36
daily tasks and even some moderate to
5:38
heavy gaming are all done with ease on
5:40
the Flex 11 the only issue I've run into
5:42
we're having over a dozen tabs open
5:45
including hangouts and play music at
5:47
this point you begin to see the Flex
5:48
hanging a bit to catch up but I failed
5:51
to ever push the Chromebook too far
5:54
overall the Lenovo flex 11 Chromebook
5:56
hits on every area and then some for a
5:58
device in this price range and was
6:00
incredibly impressed with its
6:01
performance build quality and design for
6:04
the average user I cannot recommend this
6:06
Chromebook enough we compared to the
6:08
latest Apollo Lake devices the Flex 11
6:10
is capable of more than I ever expected
6:11
all it almost half the price of the next
6:15
generation of Chrome devices I will go
6:17
ahead and say this now Lenovo flex 11
6:20
Chromebook is and will likely remain one
6:21
of my top picks of 2017 if you're
6:24
looking for a versatile device that's
6:25
attractive and durable I can't think of
6:27
a better choice and at $279 you won't
6:30
likely get a better bang for your buck
6:32
well Lenovo flex 11 is a solid device
6:36
and for under three
6:37
it checks off all the boxes you'd expect
6:39
from a ruggedized 11.6 inch Chromebook
6:41
whether it's the student in your life
6:43
throwing in your backpack to take down
6:45
to the coffee shop or even a daily
6:46
driver in your office I cannot recommend
6:48
this Chromebook enough guys I hope you
6:51
liked it while you're here click
