Ubisoft is launching a new Family Feud game in just a few days on November 12, 2020 for Google Stadia and as excited as I want to be about it, I’m not. My family loves Steve Harvey and the long running game show, but the only thing more odd than the game not even featuring him as its host is the fact that we won’t even be able to play it on the device that’s central to our family experience – our 65 inch living room TV.
Whenever we settle down for the weekend, we often find ourselves watching a Disney movie on our new Chromecast with Google TV or playing one of the many Stadia Pro titles – wait, no, that’s not right. Stadia won’t even run on the new Chromecast until early next year, so the release of Family Feud is a bit awkward, isn’t it? I mean, it has the word ‘Family’ in the title and it’s a game show that’s long since captivated families across America. It does feature online play, but the central experience, I would like to believe, is the advertised ‘couch vs couch’ mode.
It will be a tad difficult to pit two Stadia-using families against one another on their couches if their couches are facing a TV that doesn’t support the game for another few months. There’s also a Live Show feature that will let you and your family stream your experience straight to Youtube through the Stadia interface, but all of these modes seem like they will have to wait to be fully experienced because of this set back and survey says ‘that’s disappointing’.
Are you ready to play Family Feud? Survey says, “yes!” PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia players will have access to the game starting November 12*. This version of the popular game show, which pits two groups in a competition to guess the most popular answers to a variety of questions, includes a Classic mode (a team of up to five players can play against the AI), Party Battle mode (group vs. group via local multiplayer), and Couch vs. Couch mode (play against other groups online).
Additionally, Family Feud includes a Live Show feature that lets players broadcast their games directly to Twitch or YouTube to play with their viewers. There’s also a player-customization feature that contains unlockable items and titles.
