Our launch month was so busy that we couldn’t get you all of the news of newly released and upcoming games hot off the press. I suppose that’s both a great and terrible thing. With that being said, we’re going to go ahead and re-cap as many new and upcoming games you may have missed out on this month. Let’s go!
Fallout Shelter Online
Release Date: Available in many regions. USA release date unknown
A free-to-play sequel to 2015’s Fall Out Shelter for mobile, you’ll manage a fallout shelter in Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic landscape. Now, you can do it with or against friends! Currently only available in Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines. If you live in any of those regions you can download the game on Google Play now. If you’re in the United States, you’ll have to wait. There’s no word on when this game will release in the West. The App Store link is also currently busted, but Bethesda will probably put up a listing for it in the coming days or weeks.
Crying Suns
Release Date: June 25, 2020
Described by the developers as “When FTL meets Dune and Foundation”. FTL or Faster Than Light is a space ship management sim that was very fun. Crying Suns looks like a real time strategy (RTS) space game. Published by Humble Games, the makers of the Humble Bundle, you’ll travel between solar systems and handle the collapse of a 700 year old space empire. Releases June 25th, 2020.
Toro and Friends
Release Date: June 23, 2020
I’m not a fan of match three games, well, not most of the time, but Toro and Friends features Sony’s iconic cat Toro who is extremely popular in Japan. It has a very Nintendo vibe to it. The interesting thing about this match three game though is that it’s a bit social. As you match fruit you send hearts across to your friends. We’re still not entirely sure about the details about this game, but thought some of you would be interested. You can pre-register for it now on the Google Play store. Releases June 23, 2020.
Slay the Spire
Release Date: Unknown. Announcement coming before June 30, 2020
Developer MegaCrit recently announced that their popular PC game would come to mobile! They stated that the iOS version would be the full PC game. It will cost $10. It’s a game where you build a temporary deck to climb a tower and slay monsters. Unlike other deck building games, you don’t keep your deck permanently, but that’s the great part about it! Less stress, less management. Releases before June 30th on Google Play and the App Store.
KartRider Rush+
Release Date: Now Available!
Being called the “The Mario Kart Tour killer”, KartRider Rush+ is and extremely polished kart racer game. It’s brought to you by the popular Nexon Company of Mabinogi and MapleStory fame. I personally didn’t like the drifting mechanic in KartRider compared to Mario Kart Tour, but the latter is full of microtransactions.
2112TD (Tower Defense)
Release Date: Available Now!
Basically a cross between Command & Conquer and StarCraft. It’s apparently highly spoken of, even this early on. It released a few days ago.
Set 100 years in the future, battle inter-dimensional flesh spawn across the solar system and defend Earth’s colonies from complete annihilation.
The pace is steady, but the stakes are high as the relentless hordes amass in an effort to overrun your mobile command center.
Unlike traditional TD games, you will be relying heavily on micro-managing dynamic action-based abilities. As you progress deeper into the campaign airstrikes, charged attacks, fortification walls and the tactical drone will become increasingly vital and deploying them strategically will be paramount.
Mistakes won’t go unpunished so stay frosty, learn from your blunders and endure to fight another day. Without pain there can be no gain!
Dead Cells
Release Date: Available Now!
Another awesome full PC port, you’ll play a failed alchemic experiment and explore a gloomy island that’s randomly generated to find out what happened to you. It’s got a really cool polish to it too. It’s been available on Apple devices for some time, but finally came to Google Play! Controller support for the win as well, so Chromebook users will certainly be happy. It’s a metroidvania with a lot of depth. We did get a chance to write our thoughts on Dead Cells this last week.
AtomRPG
Release Date: Unknown, but soon!
Available on iOS and coming immediately to the Google Play Store, Atom RPG from AtomTeam is set in 1986 and takes place in an alternate post-apocalyptic universe where both the United States and the USSR use nukes against one another. You’re then left to scavenge the remains the the land and find things you can use to survive as you fight enemies. 120 Locations, 150 weapons, 600 NPCs, a skill tree, 60 hours of gameplay and more! This is basically mobile’s version of the old Fallout games.
Exos Heroes
Release Date: Available Now!
Face the evil forces threatening the peace of the Exos Continent!
The grand adventure to search for ‘Exestruk’, the missing sword of the emperor, and the curse of the ancient dragon! This game looks gorgeous. We’re still not sure if the gameplay is for us or not, but we’ll write a review for you when we’re ready to give it our final thoughts.
