Take Two Interactive is largely known for their wildly popular Grand Theft Auto series amongst others and just announced during their recent earnings call that they will release 93 new games between now and 2025. While this is insane news to begin with, the really exciting part for us on-the-go gamers is that according to President Karl Slatoff, 21 of those games will be headed to mobile and many more could be available on Stadia!
While it’s too early to tell what games will be in the line up, we can make some pretty accurate speculations based on their existing portfolio which includes tons of games you have probably already enjoyed like The BioShocks series, Borderlands, Civilization, Mafia, NBA2k, Max Payne, Red Dead, WWE2k and XCOM. Given today’s news in conjunction with the recently announced Mafia Trilogy, which bundles complete remakes of Mafia I and II with Mafia III, it’s a pretty obvious bet that the trio of games will land on Stadia at some point. I’m voting to see sequels to two of my favorite series, L.A. Noire and Bully, come to our favorite cloud streaming platform.
Karl mentioned that not everything they’re working on will see the light of day though. He called the current pipeline a ‘snapshot’ and stated that other games will undoubtedly be added to their slate throughout this process.
It’s no secret that Take Two are big fans of Stadia, weighing in recently to show their interest and support in what Google has built. CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that they want to be where the consumer is and that they are believers in streaming games services. They’re optimistic about Stadia’s business model and potential for success.
The company also owns developer Socialpoint which is responsible for games like Monster Legends, Dragon City, Tasty Town, Word Life and World Chef. While I’m not personally a fan of social games in this vein, I can see that Take Two’s 93 game line-up will include something for everyone and I can get behind that.
We could also see games from their label Private Division like Ancestors, Outer Worlds, Kerbal Space Program 2 and the upcoming tactical FPS Disintegration. No games were mentioned by name during the earnings call, let alone Grand Theft Auto VI, so we’ll just have to wait and see what’s in the oven. Whatever happens next, you can be sure to hear about it here on Gaming Unboxed.
We want to hear from you. What games are you hoping come to Stadia? What about mobile? Sound off in the comments section below!
